i got a police caution - after an accident -- and i got my crb - criminal background check done a week or so before -- should I redo it ( £55 ) or when i do my full pco / chauffeurs licence application when they do a fuller check would that be ok ?

Im not sure if I can actually just redo my crb / criminal background check because i had a reference number for the application --

I dont want to do the full pco app and fail it as it costs £260 --

would they inform me at the post office where i do the crb app form ?

can any one in a position who knows shed some light ?

thanks kindly

When you say you got a caution do you mean you were cautioned (that you may be reported for the offence of, etc etc) after the accident, or you accepted a formal police caution?

A formal Police caution does not,as far as i am aware,go on your record,it is only brought up if you commit any further offences.

Brownie, I was under the impression that acceptance of a police caution DOES show up on a CRB check, both a standard and an enhanced one! Surely that is the point of it!

I'm off to check it out more thoroughly...

    This is correct.
It is only a basic disclosure that doesn't have cautions shown.

A caution is not an easy option, it is a criminal record for life.
They only usually offer them where a conviction would fail the test at the CPS.
    Never accept a caution.

    Yo uhaven't had a caution.

You've been cautioned (so that anything you say can be used in evidence).

They will have said something along the lines of
"You do not have to say anything, but anything you do say can be used as evidence. You are not under arrest and you have the right to legal advice"
    followed most likely by
"You will be reported for the question to be considered of prosecuting you for one of more of the offences of careless/dangerous driving..."

After which you've received a letter giving yo uthe option of an awareness course instead of points/being prosecuted.

If you take the awareness course then you will not have any convictions against you from that incident. If you go to court you MIGHT end up wit ha conviction against you, but if it remains a traffic matter it is unlikely to show up on a CRB check (don't know definatively off the top of my head, sorry).
