Best place to sell a brand new Tag Heuer watch

Options
Hi all

I have a brand new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Ladies Ceramic Watch, complete with a years warranty.

Serial Number: WAH1211.BA0861

I was going to eBay it but to put a reserve price in (the watch was bought for £1095 last year) it will cost me £30 regardless of if it sells or not!

Could anyone advise where I can sell it to get the best price?

Thanks, Richard

I now use Gumtree to sell anything I have. Just one thing to remember though never accept paypal, or any other distance payment through Gumtree.
Use Gumtree as a face to face transaction with cash, BT or cheque(using the 2-4-6 rule).
Good quality items sauch as this will always attract genuine buyers, but they also attract the scammers so don't be suckered in with any emails wanting to pay full price because they need it sent to a relative in cloudcukkoo land and will give you extra for your trouble.

    Thank you for your replies!

I'll try Gumtree. What the lowest you'd accept for it seems as though its brand new and still being sold for £1095 in Goldsmiths?

If they can still buy it for £1095 then there would have to be a significant drop for them to bother buying it from you.

Postage would have to be Special Delivery with added compensation - which means that up to a 500gm weight it would cost £21 up the value of £1,000 - something a bidder would also have to take into account.

Have you looked at completed listings to see if there has been anything similar sold on ebay (I know you are trying Gumtree but I don't know if they do a completed search).

Unfortunately ladies' watches don't tend to do too well on the second-hand market. You might get up to 50% of the retail price on a good day (assuming that it is perfect, has all links, box, papers and original receipt), but 33% would be more likely, so if I was selling, I'd accept any offer over about £400.

That's one heck of a drop - why not ask in a jewellers to see if they buy 2nd hand? Might be interesting to hear what they have to say. You don't have to take them up on it.

Ebay have a free listing day this weekend for fixed price items. You could try it at £850 and see if anyone bites. Won't cost you anything if it doesn't sell.

Perhaps I am being cynical. But Tags come with a two year warranty. Yours has one year, and you admit you bought it last year.

Can you actually describe it as 'brand' new?

If it's a year old then it isn't worth £1095.

Pre-owned (whether in 'as new' condition or not) womens watches struggle to sell. I suspect the OP is sitting on a big loss on the retail price.
