Move from 2G to 3G contract

Hi there,

I've got 6 months left in a 24 month contract with T-Mobile. Is there a way I can upgrade from 2G to 3G without it being seen as a break in contract. At the end of the contract I want to move as far away from T-Mobile as I possibly can.

I have a LG Cookie but would buy my own 3G phone like the Galaxy S2.

Is there such a thing as a 2G contract? You will have 3G access if you have a 3G mobile telephone and happen to be in an area capable of receiving a 3G signal.

Yes. Just buy a new phone and buy a data plan.

What is your current deal ?

Does it have data ?

If so then a new phone is all you need, buy one PAYG. If you get an unlocked phone (some are sold like that) or get it unlocked then you can move at the end of your contract.

I assume smartphone or data usage is your reason for wanting 3G. Calls will be much the same.

Is your current phone a 2G smartphone of some kind ?

What is it you don't like about T-Mobile ?
