Tesco BBQ Range BOGOF Offer Not Working! DTD To Be Had!

I didn't get ny DTD
after 45 mins in the shop
They said I have had too many before.
I phoned head office while in the shop and they said because I went through self scan I should have realised and it was the Managers discression in each store
So I asked for a Full refund which they didn't like coz the items I had bought had now been sitting at CS for 45 +.
So I went back in my car and phone customer servos in Wales I think and told them the story they phoned the store and came back with the same answer
I got home and phone another customer service number and got put through to a helpfull young lad and said that's all wrong how much have you been overcharged,I said £21 he put me on hold for 20 mins came back and said he was issuing me a voucher for £42 BUT he said please Don't go through self service again if you are looking for DTD as head office are leaving it to managers discretion weather or not to give DTD in store..
So I'll wait for my £42 voucher
Fingers crossedGet Appletv2 & XBMC in and thank me later :beer:0 -

How does the DTD work? Is it only when an offer doesn't work at the till? Do you have to take the receipt straight away or can you go back later?
Cheers
Any item that goes through the till at the wrong price, Tesco are obliged to pay double the difference (DTD) of the advertised price and the price charged. You have to ask at customer services. Usually best to do it on the day, but as long as you still have the item and can prove they have overcharged should be fine. You get to keep the item and the cash. Some stores need reminding about DTD as they try to refund just the difference.0 -
CAUTION -
Just so people are aware, Tesco DO NOT have to honour the DTD policy. It is a gesture that they do and it is entirely at the Store Manager's discretion. If they believe you are targeting the DTD (i.e. buying £200 worth) then they may refuse it.
You were lucky to get CS on phone to refund on third attempt. I went all the way to Philip C and was refused once so just be warned.
Good luck.I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

Morning me hearties....Cap'n here
I'm not sure I agree with this statement.
As it's clearly posted without any conditions in the store it would likely be taken as an implied term in any legal dispute.
Contract law when it comes to retailing simplistically has three elements....
Invitation to treat...... (I offer to sell you my products at this price and on these terms)
Acceptance of Offer.......(I have put products in my basket please tell me my total amount to pay)
Consideration.......(Here is the amount you asked for to pay for the products)
As the notices in store are there for all to see before either Acceptance of Offer or Consideration they are part of the Invitation to Treat and therefore are 'fixed' once the Consideration takes place.
I'd be very surprised if a judge didn't accept them as an implied term if a case ever came to court, of course Tesco's could be slapped by trading standards for not implementing such a clear policy.

What nnonsense! :rotfl: It's their OWN policy, written in blue and white instore!!! They have to stand by it.

I went to my local tesco in oxford last night and as I got to the BBQ aisle, I saw a young lad sweeping ALL the bbq stuff off the shelves into his crate and he then proceeded to scribble over the red stickers with a black marker pen! I was gutted as I'm having a bbq for my birthday and this could have come in handy!!!2012 Wins - May - Box of Magners. June - tickets to Udderbelly festival, Krave cereal, Trip to New York with £500 coach voucher0

Hi there
Went first thing this morning and the night shift had replaced all the shelf's . Got over £50 of meat for free . The CS was great and she explain how DTD worked and that I would get a full refund ( as if I did not know ). She had the same problem yesterday and she had all the stock removed , so the night shift are in bother, and I use self scan with no problems
So it may be worth checking in the morning0 -

The offer is made by the customer when they present the goods at the checkout. Acceptance is by the store taking the money. Otherwise everytime somebody put something in their basket they would be bound by it.0
