Had a wonder through Waitrose yesterday - like to see how the rich folk live:rotfl:
They do give away some really good literature found a recipe for Goan Chicken with Mango & yogurt chutney. I made it and it tastes great (having it for dinner tonight).
I couldn't afford to buy all the things in Waitrose - Mango £1  v 3 mangos for £1 at the market so I've adapted it a bit.

That's one I'd like to see. I have some prawns in the freezer waiting for inspiration.
Do you have a link to the recipe please?Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Their recipe cards are good aren't they ?
I actually did my week's shop there yesterday. I came away thinking 'blimey that's made my purse ache'. When i got home I decided to do a virtual Tesco shop. I 'bought' exactly the same stuff from Tesco as was on my Waitrose till receipt. The difference was 67p more at Waitrose. I was very surprised. It would have been a good £20 less if I'd left all the stuff that wasn't on my list on the shelves :rotfl:
Another good thing about Waitrose - they pay the dairy farmers a fair price for their milk. It costs about 21-22p to produce a litre of milk. Tesco and Sainsbury pay the farmers 18p, Waitrose and M&S pay them 21-22p.
Also at the moment milk is cheaper at Waitrose than Tesco. £1.11 for 4 pints as opposed to £1.15.0 -
They publish a food magazine (Food Illustrated) and most of the recipes from it are on their site: http://www.waitrose.com/food_drink/recipes/index.asp"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

Thanks for that thriftlady. I think I should be more aware of how much the producers are actually paid for their products as I hate the idea of the Big Bad Supermarket dictating what they think the price should be.
How can I do the comparisons you have done - for my basic shopping at least, i.e, bread, milk, cold meat, fruit, veg, rice, pasta, etc? Do you have a site you use or do you google? Yes I AM a lazy sow but I can also make a difference."Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

I adore Waitrose! Their product quality is fab, their staff are all shareholders so have more enthusiasm for their work (hence better customer service), and - as mentioned before, they pay their producers better rates. Waitrose milk and dairy products are particularly good - really creamy and taste like dairy products used to. They seem to give the best mark-down prices of any store, so if you have the willpower to only purchase what you need and is reduced, you can save a bucket!
Although I make my own bread these days, their bread is very good and worth buying if heavily reduced to stock up the freezer. I'm also not a ready-meal user but buying their Indian and Chinese readymeals when reduced by crazy amounts (I've bought stuff reduced from £3-odd to 50p-ish) makes a good "take-away" some evenings when we just want to veg in front of the telly.0 -

I buy my dried tagliatelli and rigatoni from Waitrose. It's about 39p for 500g rigatoni and you can't even buy Tesco own brand rigatoni. Tesco driend Tagliatelli is around 99p, and in Waitrose it's around 59p (from memory)!MFW 2019#24 £9474.89/£11000 MFW 2018#24 £23025.41/£15000

All I did was to look at my till reciept from Waitrose and compare it with the prices on Tesco online. I've used Tesco delivery before now so I'm logged in with them. You don't have to place an order though, just register:)0 -

"For every £1 spent on bananas at Tesco, for instance, only 1p goes back to the plantation growers in developing countries - far less than they need to feed their families. An estimated 40p goes to Tesco. Indeed, the company makes a profit of £1m per week purely from the sale of bananas - enough to employ 30,000 plantation workers full-time and pay them a proper wage. "
