Orange: move from SIM pay monthly to contract
Hi,
My other half is currently on Orange PAYG. Just bought her a smartphone to try & her credit gets rapidly eaten by the data monster, of course.
We want to take out a cheap (orange) SIM only monthly deal with some included data; obviously 12 month deals are better value than rolling 1 month deals.
If she gets on with the phone, we will probably upgrade; I just can't find a clear statement on what would happen if we take out a 12 month SIM only deal, then 'upgrade' to a contract+phone package part way through. Would we have to pay off the entire balance of the SIM only deal, or would orange be more accomodating?

The best way would be to call them up and ask. Other providers do let you upgrade to a different tariff within the term of the contract but you cant downgrade after that.
Have you considered giffgaff (run by o2) as well as for a £10 a month you can get a goodybag with 'unlimited' data, txts and 250 minutes on a rolling 30 day contract.
