Drowned iPhone best option?
On a short break in Iceland my 9 month old iPhone 4 accidentally went through 45 mins in a washing machine. I tried all the usual drying out procedures but no luck.
It is covered by my home contents insurance, but I have to pay the first £150, lose a year's no claims bonus and maybe other premium increases. On the other hand Apple will supply me with a comparable refurbished phone for £120 but with only a 90 day warranty.
Anyone had to make this choice? Any advice?

so £150 plus on your home contents and problably the latest iphone
or £120 from apple for the same generation , a refub and 90 days warranty
mmmmmmm let me think
lose a years no claims ,is it worth that much .?
premium increase ,that will happen in any case even with out a claim
still thinking ,its upto you what you do,
some will be happy with a referb ,
some will say what do you pay insurance for
your decisionthere or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0 -
I'd go with apple, apple is usually good0

I would avoid claiming on your home insurance - most people dont have protected no claims so it could cost you a lot more over the next 3-5 years than the phone is worth.0

An Apple refurb will look as good as brand new. You would only have had 3 months warranty remaining on your 9 month old drowned phone anyway. Why pay £30 more via insurance, lose your no claims and see increased premiums? It would be a no brainer for me!0

If it wasn't down there too long you MAY be able to dry it out over time - look at internet for lots of advice.
If it is really dead you need to book an appointment on line at an Apple store for the Genius Bar to see a technician and take it from there. Haven't been yet so don't know any more, but they have told me over the phone the cost is £130 for a replacement.0 -
Thanks for all the good advice - have made an appointment with Apple's Genious bar for next week.0
