If he got a private parking ticket, would they let him off? :)

This story now in the Sheffield Star - link: http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/action-desk/parking-law-figures-flawed-1-4708742

Journalist David Walsh has done an excellent job, not a single mention of the F word. Note how the BPA spokesperson tries to lie and fudge, but nobody is stupid enough to believe their hogwash.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

“For example, operators often pursue a great number of charges with one court case. In addition, the MoJ figures will not account for Scotland and Northern Ireland and are also likely to exclude hearings in small claims courts, where the vast majority of unpaid parking tickets would be pursued.”

They just can't stop themselves, can they??

    Q. How do you know when a BPA spokesperson is talking crap?

    A. Their lips move.

In that case why make such a song and dance over how much court time it will save.

This is complete rubbish. The "small claims court" is part of the county court system, and the MoJ figures certainly did include those claims/hearings.

The BPA have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar, and the DVLA have egg all over their faces, however they try to spin it.

Not in my experience. Just the one ticket in the vast majority of cases, occasionally two. The only time I've seen higher was Trethowans/Aintree with 26 (which they lost of course).

There was that chap in Scotland who p1ssed off a church by constantly parking where not wanted and got 30 plus tickets. These are only remembered because of there rarity value.

The BPA lying to the government. At least they're not the only ones. :)
