HI All
My wife just rang me at work to say that our washing machine (Hot point - bought in Jan,2011) broke down half way during the wash cycle with the clothes and water still in.
Would I be able to call upon my Insurance Home emergancy cover for help?
The other option is to call someone to come and fix it but I dont get paid until end of the week and I am completely broke now :-(
Any thoughts
Matt

before you panic, has she tried turning off the machine and trying to drain the filter. it may not be draining due to a blockage, mine used to do this. once drained it may then start again if you restart it0

If you're really stuck Hotpoint will let you take out their annual insurance which will cover the repair and you pay by direct debit so you wouldn't need the cash when they fix it. It's about £15 per month and they will talk lots about how they'll replace it if they can't fix it which is worthless as they engineer told me the only time they *wouldn't* be able to fix it is if the parts are obsolete (so if you have a fairly new machine that'll never happen.)
Hotpoint parts are already covered for 5 years so you could just pay their call out charge.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -
Claiming on your Insurance Home emergancy cover for an appliance? Doubtful but I can't read your policy document from here.
The first mistake of course was buying a ruddy H0tp0int. Totally unreliable pieces of junk. Thus spaketh a foolish ex-H0tp0int owner. Never again!
Get an engineer in and charge it to your credit-card. I would0 -
Thanks for that Puddy - I know i need to be calm :-)
Ok - will tell her to try that out.0 -

Sick of having to replace our washing machine every 12-18 months hubby decided to pay for an extended warranty.
First time it broke down i had to wait 6 days for them to come out and fix it.
Second time it broke down it took them 13 days to come out and fix it. The man came, couldnt find a fault and went. I switched my washer on and it packed in again. I then had to wait a further 8 days.
He bought me a new one and Comet Extended Warranty you can stick your policy where the sun dont shine! :mad:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I don't know what you have been doing to yours but we bought our Aqualtis 6 years ago and it hasn't broken down once.
To the OP. I wouldn't be expecting a washing machine that you just bought January of last year to be broken already. Personally I would be getting on to whomever you bought it from to get it repaired under the sale of goods act. It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0 -

This is what used to happen to my old machine, ended up having to drain the water out then it worked fine, would be something had got stuck and and was blocking the pipe.Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0
