Toby Carvery charged sunday prices on a monday

As a matter of interest what do you want the outcome to be? From your first post it seems you want more than a refund of the difference? It appears you want compensation for "loss of enjoyment". I doubt you will be able to get more than the difference between the Sunday and Monday price.
I would just send a photocopy of your receipt with a covering letter and ask them to refund the difference. If they do then it's job done, if they don't you can take it furtherThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Im amazed not a single member of the party asked what prices would be charged since the monday was a BH ?
Ask for a refund but future reference remember to ask0 -
Azari,
The customer see's an invitation to treat. I agree
Does the retailer HAVE to supply goods or services at the advertised price?0 -

It would seem to me by the comments, the law isn't the issue you are uninterested in the law and the facts, it's your attitudes and perceptions that matter. I infer from them that you believe I and/or my party intended to deceive or gain an advantage, and that we are seeking some unjustifiable compensation.
You cannot accept irrespective of the law that an innocent mistake was made on our part, that by failing to act graciously responsibly the company compounded the error into an issue that then spoilt an evening. They had opportunity to settle the matter by other reasonable means but were unwilling to do so. Thus I believe I should be entitled to a refund of the difference, a compensatory element for the upset caused, a public apology at the restaurant by the members of staff involved, which is commensurate with the public embarrassment they caused my party, and a letter in writing.
DPCF79 not that it is relevant, but 5, two English and 3 from overseas, hence why I made mention of tourists, had they been on their own..0 -

Exactly, Your mistake.
What would you have liked them to do to resolve it?
Let you off, give you some washing up to do to work off the bill, give you the meal for free with an apology?
What were you expecting?0 -

Someone less sure of themselves than I might be forgiven for thinking they had any rights and capitulate at any sign of adversity.
Its not my consumer right to expect a business to capitulate to my invalid assumption. I thought it was standard knowledge that most "Sunday" rules apply to Bank Holidays and is something I personally would have checked. Once I saw the menus were the Sunday only ones I would have definitely checked.0 -

My only mistake is engaging further with your poor understanding and grasp of the situation.
I think you should read the posts, I made it clear what I had offered. Either you can't or won't understand I can't quite make up my mind, but either way establish the facts before posting.
And try and be relevant rather than blindly opinionated.0 -

The simple fact is I didn't ask about the Menus, at the time I just thought it odd but didn't really pay it any consideration i was engaged in enjoying our company.
The point of fact and the law is clear on this, that they had a duty to inform me, and they didn't, the signage is misleading.
Putting the entire blame upon I /us as consumer/s is wrong of you as it was wrong of them.0 -
im aware of what you offered...
I asked how you would have liked them to resolve it.
Any guesture the restaurant offered would have been goodwill.
You were not "entitled" to a discount for making a mistake.
Heres how i understand it.
You and 4 friends go for a meal on a Bank holiday Monday.
The sunday menus are out with sunday prices but you ignore them and any other signs and order the mon-fri special.
When the bill arrives you complain you thought it was a fiver each as its monday.
Staff point out its a bank holiday and that offer excludes bank holidays.
You offer to pay the fiver each and leave your details.
Restaurant say they will call the police if you dont pay.
You then kick off and it all goes pete tong.
You decide the restaurant have embarrased you and your friends and you now want some form of compensation for your loss of enjoyment. (as you were paying the bill id assume you were leaving anyway)
Have i missed anything0 -
I would never guess that Sunday rules applied to a bank holiday.
Bank holidays are the freakiest, weirdest days ever. Why does everything shut down because of the bank?? I will never understand. Bizarre.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
