UK Parking Control Ltd

Hi I parked in a Disabled Space outside M&S, but i forgot to display my badge.
When i returned to my car, a parking attendant was there as he could see that I was in a wheelchair I asked him to not ticket my car. I also showed him my badge but he said it was too late he had already printed the ticket.
So far I have ignored all letters but i have now got a debt recovery letter on behalf of UK Parking Control Ltd from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd.
I would just like someone with more knowledge than me to confirm that I should still ignore.
I also have another one from Graham white Solicitors ( part of my illness is forgetfulness so i have done it twice) I know to ignore this one because there are lots of mentions about him.
Would be greatful for any advice concerning UKPC ltd
Thankyou in advance

The blue badge scheme does not extend to private car parks. Continue to ignore. Do not respond what so ever.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0

All part of the same impersonation of authority scam.
They change characters to impersonate if you ignore the first, anything from solicitors offering you free legal advice and doom, to debt collectors, to snow white and the seven dwarfs if it would make you pay the scam.
They wont take you to court because the counter claim (what you get) for breaching the disability act and harassment under the same act would be in 5 figures.
Ignore, stay Ignoring.

If you are up for it you have an open and shut case to sue them. If you made it known to their parking attendant that you were disabled, and if you were in a wheelchair I would say that was fairly obvious!- then they have broken every law in the book. I would also write to M & S with the whole sad story, enclosing copies of the letters they have sent you, and asking why a reputable retailer sees fit to employ people of this ilk.
Of course they WILL go away if you ignore them but that isn't the point. Other people in your position might have paid these parasites.
You can get a fair amount in damages for this if you are willing to pursue it. Neither difficult nor expensive. Indeed it will cost less than what they are trying to extort from you.0 -
The Blue Badge scheme doesn’t apply to private car parks. Anyone, who’s disabled under the terms of The Equality Act 2010 can use a disabled parking bay. If they’re also Blue Badge holders, they don't need to display it.
No more than they need to ring a hand bell and shout, "Unclean".
And the contract terms & conditions for the car park probably state that you shouldn't park in a disabled bay without displaying a badge. If so, then this in itself contravenes The Equality Act.
The car park owner is legally "jointly and severally liable" for the actions of their agents, the PPC, and their actions have been judged to constitute harassment under the terms of The Protection from Harassment Act 1997.The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

can someone please advise me if I should take the same action. I parked in one of their car parks on Sunday, you got 2 hours free paking if you took a free ticket which i forgot to do. Therefore i received a ticket, i was in the retail park carpark for 45 mins and spent around £200 and received a ticket. Should i show them receipts etc or just ignore them?0

Ignore them.Je Suis Cecil.0

Was it one of "their" car parks Michael, or are they just mismanaging it? Either way, the elbow is the answer.0

Thanks, it is a carpark owned by the retail park that they look after.
Had i not been distracted by the kids in the car I would have walked over and collected the free parking ticket. Unfortunately I forgot and came back 30 mins later to find a £90 charge on the window. 5 others were caught in the same way as me whilst I spoke to the attendant.
Their loss was £0 as it is a free carpark for the first 2 hours. I can prove by dated and timed receipts that I spent my time in the retail park as opposed to in the town centre, a 10 minute walk away.
Unless anyone thinks I am in the wrong i will ignore these people and their threats.

Everyone on here knows you are in the right.
They are entitled to their losses only, and even then that is only if they own the car park or their contract gives them sufficient rights over the car park to issue charges (highly unlikely).
They would be stuffed in a court case and they know it, so they will stick to trying to intimidate you through scary letters. That's the only realistic option open to them.
Once you realise that they have no legal right to your dosh and simply continue to ignore their threats then they will eventually give up and go away. Just like all the other PPC cases on here.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
Yep, unless you have time on your hands and are looking for ways to use it up, don't bother to appeal/contact them. They go away of their own accord after they have wasted about £5 in a fruitless attempt to scam you.0
