Haven't been able to send or receive e-mails for 18 hours now.
I posted on the "Techie" board and RoCas said I was not the only one.
I rang Onetel this morning but they just said they were aware of a couple of problems as if ther were only myself and one or two more suffering !
Anyone else out there having problems?
The more that complain the better....................Perhaps they'll pull their finger out quicker !!
This is the error message I keep getting:-
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.onetel.net', Server: 'pop.onetel.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Yes I am too. I even tried checking my emails on their website but onetel.com & onetel.net both seem to be down.0

Seems to have started working again.............Although slow !

Glad yours is working, blooknok. Mine still isn't ... neither for outgoing nor incoming, although I was able to receive some emails yesterday.
I spoke to OneTel (again) about an hour ago and they say it's an outage that is affecting most of their broadband customers. They also said they will credit customers for the number of days of lost service.0 -
mine isn't working again. Has worked only once in the last week. Is anyone else having this problem?0

Ours is very "hit and miss". Some messages are delivered to recipients - some not - some being received by us - some not. The EXTREMELY polite technical staff have so far proved to be not very useful to say the least. Looks like we'll have to vote with our feet unless things improve quickly. Such a pain though having to change our email addresses.0 -
It would appear there are problems again this morning, anyone else having trouble accessing? Strange just the sme as exactly 1 week ago.0

Yes problems for me too. Plus I know for a fact that at least 25 emails that I've sent have not reached their destination over the past 8-10 days! Also ones that I've sent to my onetel address from another ISP have not arrived over the same period. Strangely however some get through0

I called Onetel regarding compensation and they've nearly halved my subscription for the next 18 months.
I reckon they're expecting more problems and, therefore, are willing to give a large discount to ensure we stay with them. You have to go on a bit about how you're not happy at all and are thinking of moving to another ISP but it's worth a go.0 -
Onetel seems to be a source of a lot of spam so email is getting blocked. They say they are aware of this and are trying to sort it out. Decided it was time to get my parents to jump ship. I've been trying to shift them to Zen for a while.
Just phoned onetel and conversation went something like this.
Conversation went something like this.
Onetel: Are you the account holder?
Me: No that is my father.
Onetel: Well in order to issue a MAC code he needs to phone
Me: But he can't use the telephone he has asked me to do it and sent you an email authorising this.
Onetel: In that case we will need verbal authorisation from him in order to speak to you.
Me: But he can't use the telephone.
Onetel: Then he needs to respond to the email
Me: But he has responded to the email. It says for data protection reasons this cannot be done by email he has to phone and he has asked me to do this on his behalf.
Onetel: If it states data protection reasons then he needs to provide additional information.
Me: Can you let me know what information you require.
Onetel: No I can only provide that information to the account holder.
Me: But he can't use the telephone and has responded to the email, but received no response. The email doesnt say what additional information you need.
Onetel: I need to speak to the account holder.
Me: But he can't use the phone! Would you like me to take this up with the Disability Rights Commission as a case of discrimination?
Onetel: (silence)
Me: If you can't deal with it let me speak to a supervisor.
Onetel: (put through to supervisor) May I ask why your father wants a MAC code.
Me: Because he wishes to transfer to another service provider that can provide a better level of service at a reasonable price.
Onetel: If that is the issue then may be there is something we can do.
Me: His emails are getting blocked because Onetel is identified by a lot of service providers as a major source of spam can you sort that out?
Onetel: I'll have the MAC code issued he should get it within three days.

Week gone by and still no MAC code0
