Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 22nd May 2012 . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

good morning all although cloudy in north Kent its quite warm and I think its going to be a nice day.Just had my bill in for gas and electric for the past three months and its not too bad at all.EDF give you a graph to show how you have done in comparison with last year and my usage is down so being canny with lights and heat works well.My D/D is actually going down by £3.00 per month as I am in credit and I have been frugal with my usage. So not a lot but another £3.00 per month in my pocket is £36.00 per year extraI shall put it away towards something for myself a treat as I don't miss it so a seperate little savings account seems to be on the horizon for me.Mighty oaks from little acorns and all that :)
School run first thing then I'm not too sure what i shall get up to today, probably something involving my Garden as its looking like a jungle I can't do a great deal but a tidy up of the pots on the patio wouldn't hurt.Good luck to all those sitting exams today DGS Ben has his English this morning.
    Have a good day everyone

Morning all, gorgeous sunny day here so nice walk for me and Jack. Off to school in a minute, will be a long day as we have a parents meeting at 7pm and it's not worth coming home in between. We're planting a Union Jack flowerbed for the Jubilee today so should be fun.
Hugs to all in need , hope you all have sunshine and Good Luck to all exam takers. Have a good day all.:)

    Morning :hello:

We lost Molly yesterday  She's been up and down a lot lately, but I knew she was going when she wouldn't eat a basil leaf - her favourite treat  She was on my lap, fidgeting about because she couldn't get comfy. It was strange - I put her on a cushion next to me, kissed her head and told her it was OK to go to sleep, straight away she led on her side, finally looked comfy, and died

My hip is a bit stiff this morning, I must've slept in a funny postion. So I'm going for a very slow walk this morning :D I need to get some gardening done, I'll do that before lunch because it'll be too hot for me this afternoon.

I need cake :D so I'll make some later. Other than that, there's not much to do. I'll just potter about.

    Oh Tru :cry::cry::cry:
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Tru - sorry to hear about Molly x

No sun here, very windy, very grey and the fog is rolling in waves over the back fence...nice!

Dd1 has English lit GCSE this morning, she's been getting A* all the way so far for English so this won't phase her.

Stripped our bed and it's in the WM ready for when the sunshine hits....if it does.

Chicken defrosting for tea for fajitas - got wraps and spice mix from ap*roved food so a nice cheap meal, I make 2 small chicken fillets do for the four of us with plenty of veg to pad it out.

Made pizza last night using suet mix from AF for the bases, one of the best pizzas I've ever had.

Need to clean out the parrot this morning, she's been stripping bark off an apple branch and it's everywhere....she's had fun doing it though and was chatting away last night...she's nearly mastered 2 of the new kittens names, it's amazing how they pick up speech.

Hope you all have great days.

    Morning everyone,

Hugs to Tru, so sorry to hear about Molly.

Hugs to LW and Molly. Please keep posting LW, I really enjoy your posts.

DS has another exam this morning, it is english literature. He is still really laid back about them all. I am worrying for him!

DD2s team won a big netball tournament at the weekend, she was so pleased.
Fingers crossed and positive vibes for her today please as her coach is choosing the teams for a big whole weekend tournament in June, she is worried that she won't get picked.

Tea tonight is curry made from left over chicken.

Have a lovely day everyone and enjoy the sunshine.:)

    Morning all

    Tru (hugs).

Going to be nice here today so bedding is going in the washing machine shortly. I put a load of towels on the line last night and OH cleaned the bathroom yay! That doesn't happen very often.

We went to Weston super Mare yesterday and the sun came out and it was lovely. So the grass didn't get cut...OH may have to do it when he comes home from work(he does 4 days). I had to make chicken pie for tea when we came home though and a cake to fill the oven as I have a friend coming for a cuppa this afternoon.

We chatted to DD yesterday morning for 1 hour and 40 minutes-got on to the sudject of cooking you see. She saw the eclipse yesterday and has taken a nice photo. They hadn't had a ring of fire eclipse for 170 ish years. A lot of people were ten minutes late for work in Japan I think lol!

Well tea is pasta. Better get a move on I think. floors to clean and washing to do.

Have a good day all, especially those taking exams.

So sorry to hear about Molly Tru. :( At least she was comfy and loved before she went.

I didnt sleep well last night. I was in bed for 10pm as i was so tired and i'd developed this bad headache that just wouldnt go away. However the downside to that was i was then awake at 3 and couldnt go back to sleep. Its now 9am and ive just rolled out of bed. :o The headache has gone though.:T

I just went into my wardrobe to get out something to wear and made the horrible realization that ive actually got very little to wear. I keep buying clothes and then losing weight. I'm down to 3 pairs of skinny jeans, 5 jumpers and a 3 dresses. The rest just swamps me! Dont start on my underwear drawer as i'm down to 2 pairs of bras! I really must start spending some money on me for a change instead of the house.

Going to have a play with my hair this afternoon i think. Its longer than its been for a long long time and apart from the fringe that i am desperately trying to grow out i keep hacking at the back as its getting way too long. I am going to have a play at straightening it this afternoon. My hair is very fine and a pair of straighteners usually ruins my hair but my hair has thickened up rather a lot since i stopped having periods (i'm no longer anaemic yayy!) so i am hopeful the damage will be minimal. If not i'll just have to chop it off.

Going to tackle the windows today. I can just about manage the windows myself all but the one in the living room that is way to high and i normally get my son to do it.

Love to those who need it and hugs to those who dont.:)

os wise - bread came out as flat as a pancake today... it hadnt mixed - all the yeast just sat at the bottom so it was on with a quick loaf really speedy so i can take it out at 10 before i leave for work. a quick loaf takes 1 hr 55 mins:eek:
work today and tonight so that means it should be a nsd for me today. tonights tea is ys chicken that i bought for 80 p .. that should do all four of us.with hm wedges and veg. so under £2 again for four of us ...yay.
cat got appt at vet on thurs becuase what i thought was a flea bite has now got really big and looks sore. she will let me touch it though. spent 20 on each cat for the "best" worming and flea remody but they still have worms!! will talk to the vet about that. they are both indoor cats because the big one runs away but as they were looking at me when i was putting the washing out today i felt sad and thought oh you would love it out here. :(
    have a happy tuesday everyone.
