Fashion World are stocking me !

Anyone getting frequent daily phone calls from a company by the name of Fashion World ??
I've been receiving daily phone calls now for the past three months and is starting to get me really
Calls can vary such as automated calls that give you two options:
If you are (this person) press (1)
If you are not (this person) press (2)
I generally hang up at this point now when I'm just home from work and trying to sleep, relax or have a sh.t... (Chinese takeaway!)
Have no time for automations, robots or types
Other calls include silence and sometimes a "Real Person" !
This was today's conversation with a "Real Person", claiming to be from Fashion World.
"Hello, are you Mr MacBudman"?
"Yes," (might have said aye)!
"Can I please have your account number" ?
"I don't have an account with you" !
"I need your account number to discuss your arrears" ?
"I can assure you that I don't have an account with you" !
"But I need your account number for security reasons, Sir" ?
"As I have already told you., I don't have an account and can you please stop phoning this number" !
"I am unable to make changes to your details without your account number, Sir"?
!!!!!! are you on.... ?? hello...???............(.hung up) !
Welcome to Fashion World -
(Please note that your account may be created by Fashion World at any time and we will do our very best to ensure that your details are protected from yourself and others that may want to change the way and how many times that we contact you )
Anyone out there having the same problems ?

How awful. Have you tried contacting the company and complaining about the harassment? I don't mean telling the call centre people but taking it one step further and putting a complaint in.
I usually write letters - old fashioned but I have found that letters aren't usually ignored like phone calls and emails.
Good luck with it.0 -
If they are mentioning arrears and an account the first thing I would do is get a credit report check no one had opened an account in my name.0

Sounds like you have a debt with them. If you are certain that you don't have an account with them and no letters have been delivered then the chances are someone has set up an account with your phone number. It may just be a mistake but they will keep on phoning you. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

They've got your name though which is worrying. Are you sure you don't have a debt? Fashion world are one of those catalogues that have about 30 different titles. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

"Fashion World are stocking me !"
I thought you had a new fashion line and were super excited that you had a company selling your stuff!!0 -
This can't simply be ignored as a case of speculative calling. Sounds like they have a debt in the OP's name. OP, you need to follow this through and get to the bottom of it."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

As said above : Check your credit report and see if anything is there that shouldn't be.
Secondly find a phone number for them from their website and phone them and ask if they have an account for you. That will confirm the phone calls are from them and not a phishing call. They should be able to find you from the phone number/address/name.
There are three possibilities if it is them calling:
- completely wrong number (although unless your name is common unlikely)
- Another person has an account and moved and you have been selected from the phone book/credit report/other source as likely to be that person. Try to get them to accept you are not that person.
- An account has been opened fraudulently in your name. Sort this one out quickly and dispute it as fraud.0 -

Don't really want to give them any further information such as my e-mail or address in case they start contacting me from all angles
Had a look at their website and can't seem to get a phone number to contact them.
Was wondering if that would be the answer anyway as they would probably require an account number to investigate my complaint !
This may be an account created with a different address as goater78 mentions using my name and phone number as I have not received any letters from them.
Think I will check my credit report first and then try to fined a phone contact for them as advised.
Just might be able to confirm with them if the number used to contact me is legit or not0 -
Thought I was going to update tonight by informing of my success as I had no further calls for over a week but unfortunately received another two calls today
Never got round to checking my credit history as advised but purchased an item on credit last week, which appeared to be fine.., few!
Have focused more on finding out who these people are, what can be done and how they can be contacted
08000728412 is a dept collection number for companies such as Fashion World, Simply Be and many others.
The address for this company is:
Reliable Collections, Credit Operations, Martain House, 23 Huntsbank, Manchester M31AX
Contact name - Amanda Pountain
Tel: 0161 386 2226
e-mail: Amanda.Pountain@jdwilliams.co.uk
(If you feel this information is wrong, proove it and I will remove it !)
Reported the number to Ofcom at http://consumers.ofcom.org.uk/tell-us/telecoms/privacy/ for further investigation and have started answering all their calls (when at home) and if lucky, get through to automated options 1 and 2.
Option 1 is to confirm that you are this person named that they are contacting.
When connected to a real person, I request to be put through to their fraud department without making any further conversation with them. However, have not had any success with this either so just end up hanging up
I must admit though, over the past few days I'm starting to enjoy giving them abuse or playing them at their own game such as asking the caller for their account number and proof of identity before we continue. Seems to winde them up big time, it's quite sad really, but makes the waste of your time so much more enjoyable.
Next port of call is to e-mail this company from the above info provided and inform of possible harasment proceeding under the Administration of Justice Act 1970, s40 and Communications Act 2003, s127 if the phone calls don't stop.
Will update how this goes0 -
The irony is that they are not phoning you up just for the craic. On their records a customer with your name and phone number has a debt. I really think you should concentrate more on trying to resolve that problem and less on trying to irritate the guy at the end of the phone!
If its not your debt someone has set it up in your name and that could come back and bite you in the ****This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
