Is this a good deal on an iphone 4s?
Hubby got a telephone call this evening from Phone for U offering him a 16gb iphone 4s with 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500Mb on the O2 network for £32 a month on a 24 month contract and the handset would be free. He gets to keep his own telephone number. She said that if he upgraded my handset as well to an iphone 4s and on to the same tariff that she would give him £50 cashback.
Is this a good deal as she is going to telephone again in the morning?

Did he wake up in the morning saying "you know what? today I am going to get myself a new phone"
If not then he should seek around for the other deals for himself and not wait for the unsolicited calls

That sounds great - it's what I'M looking for, but when I go to P4U, best offer on o2 (has to be o2, only one with a decent reception in the middle of nowhere, round here>>) is 24 months at £36/mth, 1Gb etc, but have to pay £99 for phone!!0

500MB a month doesn't sound like much to me, but it does of course depend on what he'll use the phone for. DD has an iPhone which hooks into my WiFi and she lives on the phone. My broadband usage will easily increase by 500MB in a day when she's busy with the phone. I don't monitor it closely, as I'm on an unlimited broadband contract, but was curious.
DD has just upgraded to a 4s from a 3 as well. Can't see why and have to agree with DUTR's sentiments, but that seems to be how Apple works.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Assuming the phone costs £499, this works out at £11.21/month for the service. You can probably get a better deal on a SIM-only tariff and buy an iPhone for £499 that's not SIM-locked.0

I have been looking for an iphone 4s for a while and he decided he would look online for me because we both have contract phones and they are both in his name. He was offered an iphone for each of us on the same contract (300 mins, unlimited texts, 500Mb and no charge for handset) £32 a month x 24 months = £765 - £25 (half of £50 cashback) = £743 - £499 (price of handset if we were to purchase it) = £244 / 24 months = £10.16 a month.
We haven't see any better deals, where do you think we could get better because we have also looked at cashback sites but a lot of them will not give cashback on the 4s?0 -

When you consider £50 cashback that would be an extra £25 of each contract.
£32 a month x 24 months = £765 - £25 (half of £50 cashback) = £743 - £499 (price of handset) = £244 / 24 months = £10.16 a month.
What network is the "better" SIM-only deal on?0 -
She said that we could have unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 1Gb for £36 a month and the phone would still be free.
At the moment I only use about 200Mb on my phone because I am normally connected to the network where I am at the time and hubby doesn't use the internet on his phone at the moment although he would like to be able to.0 -
Say, talkmobile: 300+1000+500Mb for 6x£8. £30 quidco. What network is the "better" SIM-only deal on?
In terms of 24 months it would be £499/24+£8-£30/24=£27.50, but the min term is 6 months, not 24.
I don't think that you can ever get a good offer from a company cold-calling you.
ETA: 4% quidco for iPhone from Apple make it £26.70 p.m.0 -

He entered the details on their website.
How do I find out if Talkmobile are available in my area and whether or not it would have a good reception?
I don't use Quidco but I do use Topcashback.0 -
It's Vodafon. Use some online coverage checker, but the only way to make it sure, especially indoors, is either to ask someone on Voda to check or to order a free PAYG sim first.
ETA: giffgaff (o2) £10 'goodybag' is a popular alternative (no contract).0
