Broadband - No MAC

I am having a "fresh" phone line put into my property tomorrow. I won't have a MAC code for my new broadband supplier. My understanding is that the reason it takes 10 working days for the connection is for the old supplier to contact you. Will this be reduced with the fresh phone line? Is there anything I can do to reduce it further. I know the broadband supplier I want to use and could provide that to the Openreach Engineer attending my property.

No it will still take 10 days or 7 days depending how busy BT are. Also you might find since you have no broadband on the line you will be charged a connection fee to put the broadband on the line.

When using mac code this normaly wavies the fee since you already have broadband but you dont so theres no need for to have one.

A MAC is only valid when you are transferring a broadband service from one ISP to another on the same number. So if you are having a new line with a new number, it isn't relevant.
So there will be no 'old supplier'. It would have been possible to get the broadband up and running the same day (or next day at worst) from the date that the line is installed or reconnected, had you ordered it simultaneously with the new line. But now you'll have a 2 week wait (or thereabouts) from date of order.

I think you could have taken a sim code from BT and given it to the old supplier so they could start up your broadband on the same day?

Simultaneous provide - http://www.thinkbroadband.com/guide/migration.html#simultaneous-provide , can't be done retrospectively so no good in this case. In any event the chances of finding voice and broadband providers who know what to do with sim provides are slim to none.
