How lenient are you with buyers?

Heya there,
I sell a fair few items through e-bay, mainly CDs, tour passes all that sort of thing. I've never really had any problem with non-payers etc until now.
I state clearly in my auctions that winning bidders must pay within 7 days - or at least contact me in some way.
I've sold two items, one quite high value, and I've heard from neither winning bidder. And it's now been 10 days since the auction end.
So - I'm not really sure what to do next?
I've sent them both a reminder invoice after 5 days, and then this morning a polite message asking them to contact me asap!
At what stage should I file the non-paying bidder thingy?

We always file a UnPaid Item Dispute after 7 days, stating non payment which normally gets their attention, as the next time they log in they get a nice warning from eBay.
If they don't respond to the UPI Dispute after 7 days, close it & get your FVF's back.
You can then Neg them for Non Payment, without them being able to Neg you in return as they haven't responded to the UPI Dispute.0 -
Cheers for that

Both buyers have decent feedback, so it's a bit odd.0 -
I agree with TKPeters. I too have had a few buyers who have won items but then not paid. I send a reminder invoice after four or five days then list a unpaid item dispute. At least this way if they don't pay you get you final selling fees back. All my non payers have had feedback scores over 50, so not new to ebay so would expect to have paid on time. v annoying.:A0

I was reading on the ebay boards that there has been some problems with messages getting through and invoices being received. Have you tried pulling their details?

We get the same problem all the time.
I dont know whether the buyers only use a computer on weekends (when our listings end) or just cant be arsed to pay promptly & wait till they're harassed before paying up.0 -

I wait seven days then send them another invoice with a reminder and if i don't hear anything after 3 more days i start a UPI dispute.0

Well its been 10 days & they've had a payment reminder, I would start the UPI Dispute0

Me too, I always state in my T&C that payment must be received in 7 days, and after 7days and no contact, I will send an invoive reminder, and if no further payment, I will file a NPB file.
Ive had a bloke this morning give me hassle about my rude terms & conditions. Ive never had any problems with them before. Ive got over 1130 f/b at 99.9%
If you would like to see them, please PM and give me advise

"How leniant are you with buyers?"
I’m fairly lenient.
I usually pay immediately myself but a few times I have simply overlooked it until I get a gentle reminder.
I have had a few slow payers but it does not bother me much as I realise that not everyone lives on their computer.
I would certainly try a few gentle reminders before escalating to a dispute.
In your shoes I would however be concerned about the high value item and I would push for payment on that.0
