When I look at my wireless network icon it says speed 54mbps (that's the max, it does often go below this). Does this mean I have 0.5meg broadband?
If anyone can tell me I'd appreciate it.
Thank you

54mbps is the speed of your wireless network not your broadband.
http://sod.ms/fast will give you your download speed0 -
Thank you, that site says
"Your link from us appears to be about 0.510218Mb/s", so I guess the answer is the same, I only have 0.5Mb Broadband! I upgraded ages ago to 2MB and don't seem to have ever received it. Time to change!0 -
if you have 2mb broadband then you'll get UP TO 2mb - you are not guaranteed to get the full speed.
I'm on up to 8mb but get about 3mb whereas just before I moved house - 400yds away I was getting 6mb on exactly the same contract.0 -

Best to compare a few different speed sites as they can vary quite a lot.

Wow, thanks guys, I'll try some more of these out. Be interesting to see if I can get higher, the ISP provider websites all say I can get up to 8meg, but they want me to take their service!0

(not what you may get through someone else).
You can use to check you are getting approximate speed you are paying for through current provider.
