Evergreen Tyres

Just looking to by a couple of new tyres.

My local independent, who normally offers Maxxis offered me Evergreen saying they no long held the Maxxis as stock items, saying they had got to pricey. They weren't dirt cheap and little price differential.

Anybody ever had any experience of them? Believe they have a newish plant in China from tinternet.

Just out of interest - not intending to buy them and I don't want to open up general debate about "ditch finders" and the anti China conspiracy.

You can tell the chinese are pushing heavily into western europe, the previous brand was Goldenroad, Evergreen is a much better european name. I've got hero on mine, again a tyre that really needs re-branding.

It will take a bit of time but once these guys start seriously developing their tyres it's hard to see anything but chinese domination in future. They do need to stop changing brand names (as seems to happen a lot from) to build a bit of confidence too.

No experience of these tyres, but as the Chinese have already bought up KwikFit, I'd give it 5 years and we'll all be driving around on Chinese rubber.

It was the Itochu Corporation, who are Japanese. But saying as most tyres used by the Japanese car makers are made in china, and as a lot of Japanese cars are now made in china and Thailand, it's pretty easy to see where the Japanese owners will be sourcing from for the British market.

Forensic tyre expert Brian Lawton rates these tyres in his own words " This tyre factory is as good as it gets. The final inspection department is as impressive as anything I have seen"

According to one website - Wear - wet weather grip and Heat generation are as good as Michelin Energy Saver, and they cost a lot less.

Had a pair of these on my Focus. The thing slid all over the place until the tyres had done 300 miles then they started to settle down. Still didn't have the grip of the Michelins they replaced though.

I wouldn't choose tyres based on brand, rather on objective test results for specific models. This site is a good resource:

    www.tyrereviews.co.uk

The European tyre label classifications offer some info. too.

A lot of tyres will do this
