Orange Sim only

Hi
I signed up to an Orange Sim only deal for 10.50/month. Have just seen a bill for 33.88 and queried it. They said that it's 35p/minute for answerphone and 1p per delivery report. This is a shocking amount and the first time I've ever encountered it not being included in the price. I signed up for 12 months. I need an out of this shocking contract as I need both of those things for running teams at my tennis club so it's no good just turning them off. Any advise please? Are the other providers the same deal with sim only?

Why didn't you check the prices of the service before committing for 12 months?

No, not even Orange is. I have an Orange 12-month SIM-only tariff which includes voicemail, but I switch voicemail off as I hate it.

Every contract I've ever had the voicemail has been included in the price. I looked through the prices and saw the price of calls if you go over your allowance. Didn't see the bit right at the end of the page after scrolling down that said answerphone calls are not included and charged at 35p/minute. A right rip off. It says nowhere about being charged 1p/delivery report. Getting people to text is no good as other teams ring.

Can't you just call people back when you have a missed call from them? If you disable voicemail, it gives you much longer to answer calls anyway.

I'd much rather get out of this rip off deal if anyone can help me with it?

Your best bet is to ask Orange to upgrade you to a tariff that does include voicemail, if voicemail is that important to you. If I were you, I'd find a way to live without voicemail; life is much more pleasant without it.
