I hate all these updates about petrol prices, like 3p a litre makes a difference to anybody,
considering most people fill up once a week or once a fortnight its nothing, a saving
of 0.2p per mile for most.

it'll be news when the price drops to close to a quid a litre.

I can save a massive 21p on my scooters tank, which is a saving of 0.0015 per mile...

I know what you mean, 3p a litre, for 50 litres, I just about get a litre free. About 6 miles worth. I don't have a garage that close, so it's not worth filling up unless I actually drive past one, then the price is whatever they charge, and I still win.

When I ran the wifes car on diesel, to take it to the shops and back wiped out the saving.
I ended up just using my local independent. They may have been 3p or 4p a litre more expensive, but it was worth it to keep them in business.

With the way oil has dropped in the past few weeks it should come down by another 5 to 10p over the next 6 weeks.

I am in the "big deal!" camp too. I never understand why people get so worked up about a couple of pennies off of petrol.

When they start taking 30-40p off a litre then it might be significant.

I always remember the early budget days,60,s onwards, when all the motorist would rush out to queue at the pumps before the midnight price increase deadline, happy days..and how suspiciously a week before the budget prices would rise a penny or two at petrol stations.

Sainsburys in Ferndown has a petrol station - about 9 miles from Fordingbridge

Tesco at Salisbury Business Park, or also in Ferndown, also both have petrol - both about 10 miles from Fordingbridge.

But I would never suggest making a journey specifically to buy fuel. Better to take the opportunity to tank up whilst you are out and about and passing nearby :)

It isn't 9 miles to Ferndown. It's 7 miles to Ringwood and as far again to that Sainsburys.

The Tesco in Salisbury might be about12 miles but queuing for 20 minutes to get along Southampton Road rather spoils it.

Anyway there is an Esso in Downton about 400m from my work that is cheap for round here (136.9 for unleaded today).

Hi, Living in the New Forest area, none of the main supermarkets are on the doorstep. Glad to see prices fall generally & that our local garage is one of the cheapest. At least the supermarkets are reducing prices which is more than the Mr.Cameron's cronies are achieving! It should be remembered that you can use less petrol by modifying your driving. Is the proposed 80mph limit moterways the way to go in these trying times?

The 80mph limit has been slung out becaue of the increased fuel consumption it would create.

Perhaps it should be reduced as per Uncle Sam all those years ago?
