I saw something on Judge Judy, where someone clearly stated in the description that it was a picture of a smartphone. The winning bidder must have thought it was a real phone they would have got... so the bidder probably did not read the advert properly! Hence why there were in court. She seller had to pay $5000!DEBTFREE AND PROUD!!0

$5000! Was that compensation? Who pays $5000 for a phone?0 -
This is the case. The award was raised to $5000 because the scamming seller left false acusations in the buyer's feedback.

Its people bidding up the price, due to the controversial nature of taxpayers money being used to gain a large profit.
I have no problem with this as long as 100% profits are being put to use by a community project0 -

Surprise, surprise - item has been ended by the seller as item has been sold ... yeah right!
Got to £150K. My guess, either seller got cold feet and pulled out, or it was all a total wind-up from the start!0 -
I wonder amused the seller would be, if eBay sent them an invoice for a 10% selling fees commission? ...

Most of the time the sellers of these kind of joke items know they are selling something without being absolutely clear. I agree some buyers are plain stupid, but sellers should know better. In any case, a dispute always follows.0

Just looking on eBay and there are loads of listings now of photos of the torch, some make it a lot clearer than others that it is just a photo0
