Handwarmers - Dunelm mill are currently selling some little hand shaped ones reduced to 24p each.

Water/Paracetamol for that morning after feeling.

Bag of croissants or similar - if I drink I always wake up starving.

Can of coffee - are self heating ones still available? might gain a laugh.

A little torch - can sometimes find packs of 6 small ones in poundland or similar.

Good luck!. We did a garden party themed wedding and many guests stayed over in tents. The weather was superb... 28°C+ on the day. :)

Are there toilet facilities? We once gave a colleague that was leaving to go travelling one of those bag things with some kind of crystals that absorb the pee?

The only thing I'd say about paracetamol is if you've got a 'goody bag' and children in the same tent, you do need to be careful about keeping the drugs from the children. Obviously that's the parents' responsibility, but if you ARE doing this, I think I'd only put 4 tablets per couple, not a whole pack ...

Agree about the candles. Also make sure that anyone who's brought their own cooking stove knows NOT to use it inside the tent.

People bringing their own tents? In that case a few spare tent pegs for each bag :-) damn things are worse than socks for disappearing.
Or at least have a supply available, along with extra string and rubber bands (not actual rubber bands, the ones you use on tents!)

Thanks to everyone for the lovely comments and great ideas! I'm going to take sweetilemon's advice and post a link to this thread on the weddings board (not sure how to get it moved). Before I go over there..

psychopathbabble - love the candles idea but would definitely be paranoid about having flames around the tents. The anti-mozzie / fly thing is something I'll look into (somehow don't think fly paper would quite create the same romantic effect though). We'll go with the glowsticks as suggested by heretolearn (extra pegs is a great idea - we once went camping and forgot them entirely, nightmare!).

Mountain of debt - thanks for the thought, it's a good reminder not to let stress creep up on me but promise (guide's honour) that I'm just squeaking with excitement not stress. My stress-avoiding strategy is to involve others in the planning wherever I can and I can't imagine a better way to do this than to pick the brains of the MSE collective!

Savvy_sue - we'll be 35 weeks pregnant on our wedding night so my main worry with sound is that the noise of my frequent trips to the portaloo will disturb the rest of the campers! :rotfl:

Tissues and handwarmers are great ideas. I've never tried dry shampoo choccyface2006, does it really work? We're doing marshmallows and hot chocolate in the late evening round a bonfire instead of a disco so won't include those in the bags.

Snacks, drinks and morning after relief are definitely going in (thanks Emmzi, spendless, daska and browneyedbazzi). Games for the kids is a good idea - will raid the poundshop and Wilkos at the weekend to see what bargains they've got.

FatVonD - not sure I like the idea of a pee bag - luckily we have portaloos so won't be necessary.

    Thanks all :D

Awww your wedding sounds lovely :D

How about chinese lanterns so people can set them off at the end of the night?

For the little ones, cheap games like rounders/cricket/frisbee/cards

Bottle of water and painkillers are a necessity!!!

Hope you have a lovely day

2 paracetomol and water is a superb idea
