Best place to sell a car?

Gumtree is free so worth a try. Ebay is the only thing that has worked for me - using a classified ad (not auction), costs about £15 from memory to list.0

Autotraders really good. It costs a small amount, but I had 30 calls in the first day for my old Peugeot

From mine and others experiences, Gumtree is great for cars under £1,000 but not so good for anything more expensive. Ebay is OK but you won't necessarily get too many leads. Autotrader is more expensive but you are more likely to get people contacting you to buy - however you'll need to make sure you are one of the best priced vehicles as it is a lot easier for people to compare prices on Autotrader.0

Another vote for autotrader. The mini i was looking today- i contacted the bloke at 6pm and he told me he had listed it yesterday and had already had 3 people to come and have a look at it. Got a call back about 9.30 to tell me he had sold it, so only a day- and it was an automatic which obviously isnt as popular as manuals
I would look on autotrader, ebay and gumtree for price ideas and price it competivley to get the most intrest0 -

I started putting the details in yesterday, but then thought about picures of the vehicle. Do I take them myself or do they send someone out like in the old days? Not a problem if I have to take them, just wondering.0 -

You take them yourself. I believe they stopped sending people out around 07/08.
Remember to take all the money shots (front, back, both sides, dashboard, mileage and general interior)0 -

All done, now sit back and wait - - and wait - - -and wait:D
Oh yes, I nearly forgot about all the spam calls I will get from firms promising me that they have a buyer for my car - if I pay them £XXX :rotfl:0 -
Pistonheads - sold my last two cars on there. It's free to use.0

Nope it's been a tenner for nearly a year although it can be a good site depending on the car.
5t.
I had my last car advertised with no charge at all. I had it listed in 3 different sections too. Sold last weekend for the asking price. I just had a look on the main classified page and it does say £9.99 but I seem to recall that when I submitted my advert it said something along the lines of 'as a loyal member of Pistonheads this advert is free of charge'. Not sure what constitutes being loyal to them as I rarely login to the site.
EDIT: Just found this info

It's free if you've been a member since 2009. Looks like moving forward it'll be free for anyone who's been registered on the site for over 3 years.0
