Sorry, the manual I've been looking at is for Vista. Even then, it turns out the wireless part of the mobility center may still require the hardware switch to be in the ON position for it to function.....

Yes - I've got one and it is just fine. Connection is maybe a tad slower than via the internal wireless card but it is fine for browsing and working off the NAS drive nonetheless.

I got mine because one of my laptops turned out to have and issue with its card and despite many updates, the manufacturer only managed to improve its performance slightly. Bought one of these instead, disabled the old adaptor in the device manager, install for the new one was dead easy and it has been pretty much fine ever since. The small size does mean you can leave it parked in a USB socket all the time without much risk of damage.

I was hoping there was going to be a shortcut of which you reminded me of, it does have shortcuts but not 1 for wifi.
