Mozzies repellent

Am interested to know what other travellers use against mozzies? And what in their opinion is effective? Thanks

deet (boots 50%strength jungle stuff) is good - lots of garlic eating is the best natural prevention I have found - as mozzies are really tiny vampires :)

If you're going to Scotland (or Canada) this summer you'll be needing maximum protection

It'll melt your clothes but the mozzies will stay away

I use DEET too. I buy it 100% concentrate and take a little plastic spray bottle and dilute it down as needed. In malaria risk areas I use it neat on clothing too.
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.

A little trick I use is to put a small bottle of Eucalytus Oil ( 59p at Home Bargains ) into a large bottle of aftersun lotion and shake well .

Not 100% protection but usefull for people who are alergic to or dislike using DEET or other chemicals .

I've also heard the Avon SSS trick, so we are going to use it this year, the shower gel ect, (its the soft & fresh one).

We take boots extra strength (the silver bottled spray), my husband ALWAYS gets bit, I don't.

I think most bites occur early evening BEFORE people spray with repellent. We do it after before we go out to dinner, after we come back from the beach.

But I'm going to bring the the SSS soft & fresh range, my husband will be glad of anything. He moans like mad about even 1 bite (men huh:rolleyes: ).

I did get him the wrist bands one year, they also seemed to work. & we always use the plug in tablet in the room, I put a fresh one in about 7pm & just leave it in till I put a fresh one in the next evening.

Wear long sleeves and long trousers at night would be my advice. I also normally take Brewers yeast for a while before leaving - apparently it puts them off. Def plan to try SSS this year since I love it :)

Anecdotally I can say that Avon SSS works (it's the soft & fresh variety).

My husband used to get bitten loads and now he uses this and it works great.
The dry oil spray is pretty good formulation - but you can get shower gel and body lotion.
Personally I don't like the smell but needs must.

Sometimes it's on 2 for 1 or you can get it off ebay.
