Your plan will fail when the ported number is fully assigned to Lyca - as the gateway will charge the caller the correct interconnect rate - there is no 'Virgin' number - it belongs to whichever network is using it. When if ceases it is returned to the donor network.

How long before the number is fully assigned to the new service provider ?

Came across a statement from Ofcom explaining how ported numbers are charged. It seems that the main benefit of porting a number into Lyca is that fixed line users do not pay a premium to call you. They are charged the rate for calling the network to which the number was originally allocated.

Just like to add that on new T-Mobile contracts they no longer charge extra for calling a Lyca mobile sim, it comes out of your allowance.
