Evening all, had a very crappy emotional day - poor old Pania came round for a cup of tea and ended up with me a bit tearful! So sorry, P, but thanks for being my shoulder to cry on!

I got fed up because it was my friend's birthday. She has been really good to me, she comes and does my garden secretly when I am not here but when I am feeling disorganised and inadequate, it makes me feel even more so, even though I am incredibly incredibly grateful for the help.

So today it was her birthday and the best I could do was to take a bottle of wine out of the cupboard, but she deserves so much more. She had arranged for us to go out for breakfast with another of her friends, and while they tucked into full english, I opted for a danish as it was the cheapest on the menu, and I just felt crappy that I had no choice.

anyway, today is almost over, and I can soon go and collapse in bed.

I hate feeling like this. I know I don't make things easy on myself by having all these challenges and skiing etc etc, but I am a stubborn so and so and will not let things go!!

Sorry :o Will be better tomorrow :o

Oh hypno, how rotten for you. I'm really glad you had pania there face to face, if thats how you felt. Its like that for all of us sometimes, but I do feel you've got more stress than most. I hope by now you're in bed and dreaming sweet dreams.

Morning all, I am hoping for a much brighter day today.

It started well, with DS winning £10 in a ski-related comp. They normally take a couple of weeks to come through but the money will be added to the fund.

They are skiing this morning. I have a client so will see them practice but not the actual race. Needs must....then this afternoon we will start sorting out things for a car boot tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a good day xx

Oh Hypno, I'm so sorry you had a bad day and how lovely that Pania was around to give you a hug.

I know that feeling very well, it comes on me just occasionally. You do drive yourself very hard and I'm not going to suggest you pack it all in and start buying lavish presents and meals out because that's not you, is it?

The road is a long and trying one but we're all here to support you.

I've got the 'friend's birthday' challenge right now too. My very best lovely friend, and I'm going to give her.... a canvas shopping bag I won in a competition. I'm mortified.

It is quite strange isn't it. for lots of people I feel very proud of the fact I can give them a present out of the cupboard - made up of reduced things, raffle prizes, unwanted gifts being recycled, stuff off the freebies board etc. In fact for most of the time I am very very impressed with myself for being that organised!

However yesterday it hit me differently. I know that she would not have expected anything more. She is the one person off this site who knows the full extent of the situation. But I just wanted to be able to do something else. Part of that is selfish though, because it simply means I want to go shopping and have a nice meal!! So that was even worse!

Anyway, it did prompt me to go through the present cupboard and start being impressed with how much I have accumulated for christmas etc.

Thanks, Seaxwyn, for the support. i know you lot will pull me through.....don't you dare disappear off anywhere! And yes, I am very lucky to have P fairly closeby.

Oh by they way, P saw that my dining table is still clear...........please be impressed! (the fact that the rest of the house is in array is not to be mentioned, but the dining table is still clear).

Hypno, I do know what you mean about your friends birthday, I always feel the gifts I give my best friend are never quite adequate enough too :o

Back to the skiing though, do you realise its only been a week and you've already found £200 :T :T :T Whats your target for next week?? How about getting your total up to £500 by next saturday?? Sorry if this sounds a lot but you seem to be a star when it comes to meeting targets :D Good luck with the car boot tomorrow ;):D

  • Morning Hypno - glad you're feeling better today - it's funny how some things really set you off money wise isn't it. OH is as I type flying to Singapore for the week for a conference where he's presenting a paper (he's doing a PhD). It would have cost at least £1000 for me to go too and we didn't know what I'd be doing job wise when it was all booked so he's gone on his own with one of the academics. I know we could have found that £1000 somehow if we'd really tried (you've shown that's possible ;)) but I just wouldn't have been able to justify spending it on a week away when we could overpay on our mortgage/save for emergencies etc. However now he's actually gone I feel rubbish - particularly last night when he was at the hotel at the airport I got so upset on the phone to him.

Feeling better today spoke to him briefly before he got on the plane and I've been keeping busy doing washing and sorting etc. Off to the local city in a bit to do a few bits, my mum bless her sent me £20 for lunch/to buy a treat as she knew I was shopping so that's really nice.

Anyway sorry for waffling on your diary - hope the skiing goes well - well done to DS for his win and good luck for the car booting, think I'll be getting stuff ready with the hope of getting one in before the end of the season.

Hi all, just popped on briefly before my client arrives, any minute.

The kids are skiing - I didn't realise it was another British Champs - I only let them enter for a bit of light relief after the champs last weekend. Anyway, today is it British Skiercross Champs, last weekend it was slalom racing. So, anyway, they are having a ball down there. I don't think they will come anywhere - it is not their usual vein of skiing, but in the practice runs they had big smiles on their faces so that is good enough for me. Also it only cost £10 each to enter, whereas last weekend cost me £35 each to enter, so bargain really.

While we were there this morning we sold an old pair of DS skis for £50, so that helps with the pot. Benben, I think £500 is certainly achievable by the end of next week. Watch this space.......:p :p

YL, I am sure your week will fly by. Make the most of the peace and quiet, and being able to do exactly what YOU want to do for a few days x

The car boot is an early starter tomorrow - not looking forward to that, but hopefully we will have a few pounds profit at the end of it. If I make £50 I will be overjoyed as it is another box coloured in, but of course anything is better than nothing, so we will see.....
