Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 20th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
I shall have a lazy day today & rest my foot/ankle as much as possible. I need to sort out a pile of carp that has built up in the kitchen & cook a roast dinner, but that will probably be all I do today.
It's overcast & chilly here today hopefully it will brighten up a bit evenyually.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

  • Good morning Hester and to those who follow,
Hester, i hope your ankle/foot feels better soon.
It's overcast here too. I think it is supposed to be like this best part of the day.
I want to cut the grass today as it does make the garden look tidy, even if i haven't weeded. There is a pile of ironing to get through. May do that later on.
Hubby fed and watered the chickens on his way to work today so that i could sleep. Still up at 7!!
We have been spending so much time on the allotment, it just takes over. It is looking alright now, we seem to be on top of it at the moment.
Dinner tonight is chicken with potatoes and veg.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Good Morning All

Enjoy your lazy day Hester, hopefully your ankle will be much better for it.

Had a lie in this morning as had a late night. Friends came over to watch the football and obviously there was a lot of celebrating after :D I don't drink so no hangover for me.

Today will be seeing off one of the guests who stayed then hitting the ironing pile. OH is going to take DD driving again then when home he is treating me to the local Indian Buffet :j kids are not coming - they have having macaroni cheese.

Ironing pile isn't too bad so hopefully will be able to chill on the sofa later with my kindle, haven't done that for a long time.

    Have a great Sunday all.x

    Morning everyone,

Hester hope the ankle gets better soon.

Hugs to Molly, LW and Marie.

Up early, DD2 dropped off to be taken to a netball tournament, OH out in lycra on bike ride and DS and DD1 still in bed.

Going to church in a few minutes, haven't managed to go for a few weeks as life has been so busy but today I will get there.

Have to help DS with biology revision this pm, he has his GCSE tomorrow, and then I have a lot of cooking to do to get me ready for the week.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Morning all, i feel a bit bleugh. One glass too many last night. I have a chicken to get ready for the oven & bread to make. Planning on making a pot of soup for tonight, it will also do for lunches over the next couple of days. Its looking a bit dismal but i'm going to have to get in the garden to finish sowing the rest of the veg seeds. Enjoy your day.

I woke up thinkingabout work (bad sign). I do find the short contracts draining. This time I'm supposedly on a permanent contract but they cant guarantee my income beyond 3rd jan 2013 :-(
Just been informed by OH she's off for a bike ride and brought me breakfast in bed (coincidence? I think not :rotfl: ) Feeli need to find some mojo today or it'll be monday before i know it. Mind you DS has first exam tomoz so i might be getting stressed about that. Also DS dropped bombshell yesterday that his bestfriend's (much) older brother had died. I think all in all it's all leaving me feeling a bit maudlin

Lovely to see you back and rest your ankle.

Can hear dd downstairs with friend who stayed over in spare room so letting them sort out brekkie in peace.

DH getting ready to take other dd to Sunday job and I want to put brisket, onions and carrots in cast iron casserole in lowish oven for lunch. Anyone not fancying beef can have chicken wrapped in bacon with little yorkies, baby potatoes, broccoli and cabbage sauteed with onion and apple. Might make apple crumble for afters.

DH can't wait for his potting shed to be set up - base is being put down this week and then another week or two for it to be manufactured to size. As it is due around mid June maybe we will finally get summer weather.

Going to spring- well shuffle into action, make some tea and start lunch prep.

    Hug to all

    Hester - rest that ankle!

    Gintot - What's Airsofting?

Finished work late last night, very busy but quite an enjoyable shift, there are some good folk working there this year. Had myself a bit of a lie in this morning.

Not sure what's happening today, DD is off so we may go somewhere (that doesn't cost any money) and then I am at work at 5. OS - cleaning bedrooms today when DD surfaces but not much else, may cut the grass if the rain stays away.

    Take care. XX

    hi Camelot

Airsofting is a bit like paintball but DS uses a realistic looking gun and little plastic pellets. Yawn....

Well we will be gardening today and will pop to garden centre for the bags for our outside brown food recycling bin. We are also going to pop in the pound sh*p to get some cheap plastic cloches as they seem to stop the local cats getting on our raised beds. Now there is no resident cat our garden is fair game lol!

    Have a good day.
