We (as a family) must have been really lucky as we have never had our hand lugguge checked at any airport home or abroad.

I flew out of Newcastle with Thomson just over a week ago and back in with Thomson from Kos at the weekend and had no problems. We declared one piece of hand luggage each (which would have probably been 6Kg each) but then after security emptied some of the contents into foldaway shopper bags, added some duty free and boarded the plane with 2 bags each.

Have you seen the Sub0 suitcase range at Matalan? They do a cabin sized little suitcase, but even better they do like a satchel that barely weighs anything. I've got Hubby and I a suitcase each and a bag for our holidays (black one so it looks like a "man bag"). When we go on hols to Spain with Thomson we are only getting 15kgs! So now have to make the most of the hang luggage allowance.
I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."
Mortgage is my only debt - Original mortgage - January 2008 = £88,400, March 2014 = £47,000 Chipping away slowly! Now saving to move.

    Update:

The bags weighed 5.9 and 6.8 on the check in scales at the airport, the nice girl told us to make sure we took something out before boarding :)

Arrived on time @ 21:10 on Sunday evening and we were out of arrivals and into a taxi in minutes and at the hotel by 21:45
The taxi was €16.25 if that's of interest to anyone
