e-on is being very unhelpful

  • What conclusion do you draw from that?

On a completely different tack, as you can read all of the meters, how do you know your meter is actually reading your usage? Crossed meters is quite common in flats.

that's what we try to find out, asked them to send someone to have a look at the meter, they just said there is no point for that and we will be charged.

Yes, because on the evidence you have given, there is no indication of your meter over-reading. So they are trying to save you a pointless expense.
Your problem is the apparent unsuitability of the tariff for your property, so do the checks suggested.

You don't need e.on to see whether 'your' meter is supplying your flat. You can do it yourself. Are the main switches for the flats in each flat or with the meters?

OK, switch everything off at the main switch in the flat. Go and read ALL meters. Leave everything switched off for an hour. Go and read all meters again. Yours should be the only one which has not moved.

Good advice. Just to add that the meter serial number on that meter face *should* be the serial number stated on the bill.

You state you have storage heaters, I presume the 2 in bedroom and hall are storage heaters?
If so and you have been using them during the 6 month period over the winter and they have been coming on during the off peak period then your usage looks to be reversed, ie the high 4426kwh would most likely be the night total.

Have you actually checked that the day reading does increase during the day?

Is your " water bolier" ie immersion heater timed to come on in the night period?

    Hi kate.northampton,

There is already some excellent advise on your thread from the posters here and I agree with what has been said :T

DVardysShadow has advised you how to check the meter you are reading is the correct meter for your property, once you have done this check make sure the meter serial number on the meter matches that on your bill.

Once the correct meter is established, you can move on to looking at the bill.

Get the account billed up to actual meter readings, so you know the correct balance. As others have said remember this is covering a winter period so the charges are going to much more.

I agree that you don't look like your using enough overnight to take full advantage on the economy 7 tariff. E.ON can give you figures if you wanted to have a think about changing to a one rate tariff.

Faulty meters are normally identifiable by looking at readings, details etc on the account, the adviser won't have booked a meter check unless this is necessary as there is a charge if it found that your meter is ok.

I really advise you to speak to us again, we have a consumption department that will be able to help you in this situation.

I think what you really need is the kWh used over the year, day and night usage. You can then calculate accurately what energy you have used as an average and if you are better on E7 or not.

Let me know if you need any further info :)
