vodafone locked or unlocked

On a contract taken out with vodafone is it normal for the phone to be unlocked or not. I have had several contracts from o2 and the phones have always been unlocked.

I know that all Vodafone Live! handsets (their 3G devices) will be locked - not so sure about other models though.

contract and payg vodas will be locked
o2 dont lock their contract sets but do lock the payg

Some companies are currently selling unbranded handsets on voda tariffs - I got an unlocked ~N72 from the mobile outlt or cool new mobile possibly

Hi Glenderg.

If you get the phone from Vodafone direct (over the phone, in store etc) then the chances are it will be locked to Vodafone. If you get it from a 3rd party outlet, there is more of a chance it will not be locked.

All handsets that are branded as "Live" will be locked, no matter where you purchase it from.
