Yes, it would have been better not to have contacted them at all, but it really doesn't matter, just ignore them and their dopey chums from here on. After a few fairly inept attempts to frighten you they will go away.

Thanks to everyone above for advice in similar situations.
Parked over the 2-hour time limit in a supermarket car-park on Bank Holiday Monday - thinking that Sunday-rules would apply so I would be safe after the stated time limit. Have appealed to Parking Eye by email and am now worried that it was a mistake as they now know I've admitted it. However, reading these forums is encouraging - should I ignore further correspondence?

Appealing to a PPC is about as much use as a homeless charity taking out a full page advert' in the Daily Mail.

But, it doesn’t make their actions any less unlawful. It just means that instead of harassing the registered keeper, they can now harass the driver.

But, they can't actually do anything, for the same reason that a Nigerian e-mail scammer couldn't sue anyone who didn’t pay them.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

got to admit, being a law abiding citizen...was doubting myself if I am doing the right thing ignoring there letters and are now waiting for another one of there "invoices" as no doubt they are going to send me another "invoice" for last saturday...again the mistake of waiting on the car park for a parking space before I parked the car....am sure there signs do not say that you have to obtain a ticket the second you arrive on the car park before parking the car!...ironically I have only used this car park twice!...does anyone know what the law is doing about these company's and how they operate?

Thank you. It does sum up their dilemma, though. And it compares their actions to something equally unlawful, without actually calling them names.

Whilst all PPCs are morally bankrupt, most realise that enough victims fall for their con' for them to make a (dis)honest profit, and that having their actions exposed to legal scrutiny is the last thing they need.

Unfortunately for them, but fortunately for us, there are a couple of greedy and litigation-crazy mavericks, who don't. At the moment, they almost seem to be on self-destruct. We wish them every success.

First, private clampers. Next, private ticketers.

Al's thread applies with equal force to Parking Lie.

Eventually, one hopes that these scammers will be put out of business but don't expect it to be any time soon. Meantime, just ignore their totally unjustified demands. Leave them talking to themselves, they will get bored having a conversation with idiots, and clear off.
