My dad is with Npower as he was previously a fraud investigations officer with Northern Electric, back in the day (he retired almost 12 years ago with bad arthritis).
We were paying £74.00 per month on dual fuel and a week ago they suddenly upped it to £102 tho nothing has changed as far as our consumption.
We havent done anything different that normal.
So I rang up on his behalf and we gave them meter readings and they manually changed it to £82 as this was accurate now.
they told us to stick with them till april and the prices would drop again.
Today we receive another letter telling us we're due to pay £102!!!!
So my dad rang them and the first guy said he could take it down to £92 but it was the best he could do.
then we tried again this afternoon and spoke to a woman who basically said take it or leave it.
SO
I've emailed them giving them full details of who I spoke to and who my dad spoke to and said they have until 5pm sat to sort it out with him or i'll switch to another supplier.
I've been on Uswitch and it looks like Atlantic power seemed the best prices and best customer service.
Anyone dealt with them?
Any other advice is welcomed

I've been in the Industry over 20 years, am with Atlantic and they are superb. You get a gas and an electricuty bill- none of this dual bill nonsense!
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.No Debts, Just one whopping great Mortgage!0 -
Your other option is to wait a month or so until all the "price reductions" have been announced and factored into the price calculations.
If you're in the ex Northern Electric area then you will certainly save some money by switching away from npower. It's just a matter of who will save you the most money.
Don't forget you can get cashback or freebies by switching suppliers too!Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -

What is a dual bill nonsense?
In fact what is a dual bill?0 -
I was with NPower for 12 months and have now left and gone to Scottish Power.
The reason I left was was because they were forever increasing my monthly payments. Also their customer service was crap. The attitude was take it or leave it. I therefore left it.0 -
How much in credit/debit were you on your last bill?0

We actually got two letters one last thurs then one on the saturday. the first said we'd been put up to £102 per month after we'd already spoken to them and agreed £82.00 by giving them meter readings.
then on the sat we get a letter saying it was now down to £82.00
my dad rang them and explained FULLY and reminded them he used to be a N.E. employee in the engineering, contracting and finally fraud investigation depts before he retired. they told him the woman we'd spoken to that reduced us to £82, called Sophie dobson, didnt exist and he must be mistaken.
then he told us it was going up to £92.00 not £82.
we gave them 24hrs to sort it out get it straight, he said they'd call back before 6pm monday. my dad waited in all day and no one rang so we switched via energyhelpline's website to atlantic.:: No Unauthorised Links in Signatures please - FM ::0 -
Write them a letter telling them you have transferred due to their ineptitude. Really vent all your frustrations and I bet you will feel better. If a lot of people changed companies and informed their former suppliers why they were doing so then maybe they might begin to put 2 + 2 together and realise that there are customers(not enough sadly) out there who know that they are being ripped off bigtime and are not going to put up with it.0

Nice to see npower haven't changed since I was a customer.
I agreed to sign over electricity supply to them a few years ago but they helped themselves to our gas and phone accounts as well, claiming we had agreed. Exited npower for everything very quickly and have great delight in telling every npower caller since why we will never use their services again.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0 -
What annoys me about nPower is that if you are on their Standard rates they will not let you switch to one of their cheaper online tariffs. They want you to switch away from them to someone else for 28 days then apply back with nPower for their online tariff. As if anyone could be bothered to do that!!
Ridiculous if you ask me0 -
I'm having a problem with NPower. About 6 months ago I was stopped in Morrisons by a couple of their sales people and asked whether I wanted to switch. I was moving into a new rental property and said I couldn't make any decisions as yet, but didn't mind receiving further information on their service. I received numerous letters from them since then but after reading the first one or two I decided I wasn't interested and so ignored the stream of letters that kept coming through my door.
I am due to move out of this property on Friday (23 March) and by chance my husband opened one of their letters to find a find a final reminder for £105.47. I just called NPower to alert them to their mistake, because I've been paying BG and EDF, and more recently Southern Electric, but now they claim that they switched me over in November 2006 and that I would have to pay them or risk the consequences, even though I NEVER signed an agreement or decided to switch!! The customer service rep. I spoke to says that I will be liable for this even though I never asked for it, but I can't accept this is right. Help!! What do I do? Can they make me pay???
I need a swift response as I'm waiting for a call-back from the Customer Service Manager.0
