Black screen won't re-start

I'm sat in front of a Dell here and the pause|break key is top right hand corner of the keyboard.
If not, in the searchbox just type/copy/paste sysdm.cpl0 -
We have done this.
There is no blue screen. All we get is a black screen showing starting windows.
We then have tried a power off nothing happens. Black screen with flashing curser
We then switch it off and press F8 whilst dell logo goes across the screen.
We can get into computer by pressing start normally from this route.0 -

Download Vew from the link below and save it to your desktop:

After you've downloaded it and saved it to your desktop:- Right click vew.exe and choose Run as Administrator
- For Select log to Query, choose System.
- For Select type to list, choose:
- Critical (Not XP)
- Error
- For Number or date of events, choose Number of events > Enter 20 in the box
- Click Run

I don't undersand all the jargon. We have found the calculator and punched in the info, but then we are lost. I did tell you you were dealing with a computer numpty.0 -
I think scenario 3 more fits what you have said so far.Scenario 3 The system randomly restarts and no Stop error BugcheckCode is listedThis scenario usually indicates a problem with the hardware. Another possibility is that a driver may cause this problem.
