Happy Birthday to Cranky and DSMF, hope your days are good.
Went to L!dl this morning to do my shopping and there was a great big box after the checkout that said 'help yourself'. So I did. Into my trolly went 4 boxes of puff pastry cases, 3 boxes of various ryvita type crackers, 4 pancake mixes where you just add something and 4 packs of fruit compote, all with dates of early 2013. Thank you L!dl, I will share these with friends.
Cleaned all the floors, pegged out the washing (most of it dry), ironed last week's pile of washing and am now ready for work at 5.
Take care. XX0 -
Afternoon all
Happy birthday to those celebrating, hope you've something nice planned for the evening.
Had a bad nights sleep as DD1 was sick a couple of times and one of our cats hadn't come home. DD eventually stopped at around 5am and then DD2 woke me up to tell me she couldn't breathe with her snotty cold. Sorted her out and made a cup of tea and started the day.
Dropped some "missing cat" fliers around the village to ask people to check their sheds and 10 mins later got the call of "he's here, was locked in a summer house", DD2 went to collect him....he walked in, sniffed the food and went back out! Little toad...of course we've had phone calls and people popping in all afternoon telling us he's in "their" garden! Lovely of people to take the time.
Last nights veg chilli was delish and I'd made a whole Slowcooker full so got 12 individual portions for the freezer too!
Done a bit of gardening, a bit of path laying and a few loads of washing...all the ironing is done and put away and dinner is prepped (curry for DH and I) - DDs fancied freezer carp which I don't mind them having now and then.
A glass of wine and a bit of patchwork lined up for tonight."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
DD came and we went to the local outlet centre where she bought me coffee and a humungous lump of cake Very yummy but so calorific
My son-in-law and DGS Danny are at Wembley to see West Ham play Blackpool in the play-offs, and Hammers won, so there will be dancing in the streets round by my DDs house
Youngest DD turned up half an hour ago and went to the local Iceland to get some bits and the three youngest stayed with Granny and we played Hangman and then DD took her pick of some tops from my wardrobe that I'd never worn (saves her buying new stuff for work ) I don't mind as I have far too much stuff in there anyway so a little clear out helps a lot.
I'm now going to put my feet up and have a read as thats what I intended to do this morning but family got in the way bless 'em.
still a bit bunged up tomorrow is the third day so hopefully it should start to clear up a bit by then.Have a good evening everyone
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
evening all
popping in late after a busy day. didnt get dressed until 2 but have cleaned the house from top to bottom done washing and ironing and baked jam tarts and cakes...two lots of cakes. saw in the as!a magazine these posh cakes with nice topping and they were £1.50 for 2 cakes:eek::eek:. i made a dozen and piped them really nicely and added mini smarties and choc chips etc and made them look just as nice as mr a so was proud on the os front.
also on the os front got lots of bargains in the reduced section today and yesterday. some stuff just pennies. got loads of meat for the freezer. also got what they called a breakfast pack....6 rashers of bacon and 6 thin sausages and this was 42 pence. will chop all that up and put it in a pasta and that will feed 4. so prob total cost will be about 1.50 for the whole meal! got a few ready meals as well which i would never buy but at 40 p each...its £1.60 for the meal. thats cheaper than i can make for a "finest" type meal.
now need to do a freezer inventory and do next weeks menu plan but got a long day at work tomorrow so prob wont get time and far too tired to do it now.
feel like i have accomplished a lot today. also been to library and got some new cookery books. also got a two pack of magazines. ok not very os. have spent about 30 pounds today in total but have a full freezer.
have a good sat night everyone0 -

Since I finished the Montalbano this morning we also called in at the central library and they had a Montalbano and a Beaton I haven't read :T Also called in at Mr T (weekly shop now Lidl but they don't do loose tea or D.Eg coffee) and D Eg was half price :J Had great chat with son - he's 17 and usually shut up in his world of warcraft so added bonus

Cranky and ESMF....hope that you have both had a good day....come back to us, we miss you.
Drizzly rain here this morning, cleared in afternoon so put 2 loads of washing out, have dog bed in machine at present, will put that out when finished.
Meant to go for a swim this morning, but house got in the way and I ended up doing a few bits that should have been done during the week. Cooked ham ( gammon) for dinner, so we had that with cabbage and spuds...Aldi have really nice ones in there super six or whatever its called. Tea and a bar for pudding....not meant to be having anything like that as would like to lose even a few pounds for the summer....or need I bother as its so long since we had a summer maybe summer is now off the seasons....now just winter, winter, autumn and couple of weeks of spring if we're lucky.
Managing to stay out of the shops at present most days of week, will need dog food over next couple of days, apart from that and some milk when current lot runs out I think that we are sorted for at least a week.
JackieO....hope that cold clears soon.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, sleep well and stay safe
