...Although i doubt i`ll rack up 8,000+ miles a year, ...!Hi there
Thanks for the replies so far. Is a Mercedes C220 Diesel or C180 Petrol
Yes i mean brand new
I`ll be expecting to do 1 long distance 300 miles + every weekend. Daily basis i`ll be doing 20 miles on 40 MPH roads. Thanks
The 300+ miles every weekend alone will account for almost twice your estmated 8000 miles p.a.;)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Sorry was meant to say
-daily commute 10-20 miles a day at 40 mph max
-300 mile trip every other weekend on the motorway0 -
How is your daily commute sometimes double the previous day?
Anyway, I vote for the 220 diesel0 -
Some days i pick up a colleague so it varies. I`m just worried about the DPF failing if i don`t do the miles0

Would have been an easy choice when the cost of diesel was a lot less than petrol, but even now i think i'd plump for the diesel.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

The weekend driving would still almost come to the 8000miles per year even without the day to day driving.
Maybe what you meant was 300 miles once per month?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
An every other weekend motorway blast should protect the dpf.
As long as you don't spend months pottering about in town.
BMW have revised dpf life upwards, I'm sure MB will be similar, technology may be advancing.0 -
I'd be happy with either so long as they are auto, but inclined to opt for the Diesel in this case.
Nice decision to have to make.0 -
I'd go for the diesel primarily for (hopefully) lower tax and better re-sale value. reliability shouldn't be an issue wit ha warranty, though I've heard that modern Merc Diesels suffer some nasty problems with injector faults - I woulnd't own one out of warranty.0

Never thought I'd ever say this... but get the diesel.
Charge your colleague £15 - £20 a week for fuel/maintenance (still cheaper than bus/train I imagine), after a year that will just about cover any problems thrown up by the DPF.0
