Petrol or Diesel

I'd test drive both and then choose the one which I prefer driving.
The resale value is almost sure to be better on the diesel, but the maintenance costs may be higher.0 -
If you aren't going to be regularly driving for at least 20 minutes at over 50mph, i'd get the petrol due to expensive problems with DPF's.0

20 mpg over which cycle?0

What car is it?0

Also depends on your daily journey. I do 17 miles to work and there are enough bits of road with a 60 mph limit to recharge the DPF (until I can save enough to have it removed and the ECU reprogrammed). If I were crawling along at 30 mph or less for the journey, then I would go for a petrol car.Never Knowingly Understood.

Has the Diesel got a DPF, if so and your mileage if made up of short runs may well lead to incomplete regenegrations, in which case you'll have to take the thing for regular drives to nowhere to keep it clear, thereby negating any fuel savings.
Your question 5 years ago had a simple answer.0 -
Are you comparing the versions correctly in terms of performance?
What are the 2 choices?
When you say new do you mean NEW or new to you?0 -
Hi there
Thanks for the replies so far. Is a Mercedes C220 Diesel or C180 Petrol
Yes i mean brand new
I`ll be expecting to do 1 long distance 300 miles + every weekend. Daily basis i`ll be doing 20 miles on 40 MPH roads. Thanks0 -
Ehhh that's 20k per annum slightly less if you take off non working weeks where did you get 8k from?. Drive both, id you're getting rid before or once the warranty expires you'll be fine with either but if that really is your mileage diesel makes sense0
