For those of you who hold an ISA with the Portman and are NON TAXPAYERS, because it is a tax free account, there is obviously no necessity to complete the R85 Form, BUT it would be wise to consider filling one in. Last year, when Lambeth & Portman merged, I was taxed on the windfall (Isa savings) and when I spoke to them, they said I had been taxed because the R85 hadn't been completed for the ISA.(Because its a tax free account, I don't recall there being an R85 in the application pack, but there you go) They knew I was a non taxpayer because of my small savings account (circa £147.00) had the relevant R85 completed. Its a long drawn out affair to get the refund from the Tax Office and I for one am still waiting. Regards - sally
