On whose authority?
The new CEO recently gave the thumbs down to free banking. Which doesn't exactly tally with their recent niche advertising.

Oh I do hope so!
We've been with them since the 1970s so I think we're due a bit of a reward! :TOh dear, here we go again.0 -

Is there a cap on maximum amount payout? £100k saving, that would be £5750 payout.
Yes The caps £1,000 I'm a little peed off as I had £50,000 in various Accounts, but it's still free money so I can't complain!0 -
I'm a portman member, took out an 8% regular saver ISA last April. Really it's sad to see another building society go but the branch I visit never seems to have any customers and most of their savings products are just above average.
:j Happy to be getting a payout of course !0 -

Might as well - no real disadvantage, more benefits with banking with Nationwide and free money. I'll be voting yes heh.0

We also both got a windfall when Portman took over Staffordshire. Now we'll both get another and hopefully a third when it goes plc!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
