    I've had a poke about the HMRC web site and it seems that they are only interested if one partner was born before 6 April 1935.

    That lets us off the hook then. :)

    I didn't know my dad was still entitled to a married man's tax allowance.

    Yes, it is. It can also cause problems if you need to prove your ID / address for any reason.
    Yes it is. £1000 fine if the DVLA get wind if I remember right. Since it only costs a stamp and an envelope to get in changed I really don't understand why people don't do it (unless they're criminals and trying to avoid being caught)

    The expense of going to photo is less than the expense of a fine if you have to produce your licence and the details are found to be wrong. If you're driving, keep it up to date!!!
