Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
It doesnt perform well in low light? I have one and havent perceived any issues. Obviously low light might equal lower shutter speed, the need for a firm grip/support etc.. I have just got a Hoya +4 filter for mine and am having fun taking macro shots on the cheap..
I have one too. As well as a D7000 and an S95.

The D40 was announced in 2006, and there have been a lot of improvements in sensor technology since them. Both the S95 and the D7000 can achieve higher ISOs with less noise (OK, the D7000 may be a bad example as it costs a lot more).

Even with a f/1.8 prime on my D40, I still didn't feel like it could capture sharp, low light shots. I'm not trying to put anyone off the D40 - it's a great machine as you know, but there are newer cameras that are a lot better at higher ISOs :)
