My top tips for you are..
a)Buy a camera with a proper viewfinder
b)buy a lightweight or mini tripodFeudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Panasonic Lumix. They are arguably the best low light cameras on the market. Here is an absolute bargain: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Panasonic-Lumix-DMC-FZ45-Digital-Camera-leica-lens-/270978301040?pt=UK_CamerasPhoto_DigitalCameras_DigitalCameras_JN&hash=item3f1790bc70
I know it's a bit above your budget but trust me, you won't regret it. This one has been refurbished but still comes with manufacturers warranty.0 -
Wilkinson cameras have the Nikon S9100 for £130, they sell on ebay aswell as a normal high street shop.

Also beware of buying cameras that dont allow easy swappage of industry standard lenses i.e the commonly used lens mounts such as nikon/canon etc.. If you want to get creative in future and you cant swap the lens..well you'll have to swap the camera again.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). If you don't mind the second hand route you might be able to pick up a Canon S95 for that sort of money, it has an F2.0 lens at the wide end, and a larger than average sensor for a compact, that said it won't come close to the abilities of an DSLR for low light, unless you're shooting static subjects on a tripod using a low ISO.0

I'd recommend an Ebay Nikon D40Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

I'd echo the second hand S95 advice above. Can go to higher ISOs with lower noise, and also the flash is very good for an on-boarder.0 -
It doesnt perform well in low light? I have one and havent perceived any issues. Obviously low light might equal lower shutter speed, the need for a firm grip/support etc.. I have just got a Hoya +4 filter for mine and am having fun taking macro shots on the cheap..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry).
