Does applying for an overdraft add a credit check?

If you asked to extend or open an overdraft, would this add a credit check to your file? Similar to when you apply for a credit card?

Thanks

They would check your circumstances and review your account and probably do a credit check.

Does pre-approved mean if you already have one?

At Barclays you have pre-approved limits so would know before you applied if there was the availability.

But we don't know where you bank.

If you apply for an overdraft it will do a soft search on your credit file to see wether or not you can afford it like to much debt is the obvious negative.

So even if I have an overdraft with Lloyds, and I apply to extend it, will this make a credit check?
