I work part-time, since I started my job in 2002 I've had a 100% payrise and had another baby (2003). OH has seen his pay go up another £400 per month in that time. I do think going to work might have held DH back in the promotion stakes as I rely on him to drop off or pick up DS2 from nursery and he has cancelled many courses due to childcare problems.
He still earns a lot more than me but it's something to think about

Hi yes I'm still around. ;)

Thinking a bit more about what themaccas has said. DH worked with a bloke and they had their child on the same day I had DD. In their case both parents work full-time. On several occassions an opening has come up for the company DH now works for, which *in time* would be better paid with more prospects than the company where this man still works. On each occassion he has refused chance of interview because his current job allows him to pick and drop off his daughter at nursery, something my own husbands job doesn't allow for.
