    You will probably be surprised to learn that the Olympic torch relay is a relatively modern addition to the Olympic Games. It was begun at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany as a way of showing the supposed superiority of Aryan youth and of the Nazi regime.

    :eek::eek::eek:

    I think it's a good way of letting all the UK know that they're part of the Olympics too, not just those around London and the major sporting venues.

    And it must provide some sorely needed jobs and extra revenue on its way around :)

    So I can happily ignore why it was recently introduced.

    Hello everyone,
    I have missed you all so much. Almost 2 weeks in Cornwall. Beautiful part of the country but sadly lacking in Tesco's and very rarely got internet access.
    I'm back now and raring to go but for what I don't know, will have a go at catching up.
    :oI love to help people by sharing my bargains:o

    Thanks smartie
    Even a fuel voucher and whoopsying wasn't going to get me to Ts today
    Last time I used a fuel voucher it only knocked off £2.50 on a £70 fill up
    Hardly seemed worth all the excitement and certainly not worth driving there especially today, so glad a had the rest although my legs are still aching. I was referred to a specialist and diagnosed with severe vitamin D deficiency a few months ago, I took the injection home assuring him I would get the practice nurse to sort it for me. It is still on the kitchen ledge:( how pathetic is that with all the moaning I do - I was too embarrassed to ask the nurse, too proud to ask DH and too scared to do it myself :((

    Well my kids were so taken with the OEP we are having it on a daily basis at the moment
    And to think I flogged a load on the car boot !!!!!

    Evening all!! :)

    Guess who I saw at work today?!!?!?!? (note: I work at Mr.S:cool:)

    Mark :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
    Tesco Customer services guy from last week.

    I was speechless:o He apologized and shook my hand and said I'll see you soon:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::T:j:beer:

    What are the odds of that!? I joked around with friends saying I bet I would see him but never thought in a million years it would come true. Just wow. Haven't caught up yet sorry!

    p.s. I said you will do to him:rotfl:

    p.s.s. My tesco retirement will be short lived. Popping in there next week (can't let Mark down;):D) and they send me 6 times 25 bonus points wys £1 on frozen, fruit, laundry, bread :j:j:j:j with my clubcard statement :T:T

    Good afternoon. Just mowed the lawns and am now waiting for dinner to cook (with a little assistance from me!).

    Apparently the torch bearers are given the option to buy the torch for just under £300 after using it. Just had a look on Ebay expecting them to have been banned, and there is one on there saying available form 17th June! I am not keen on the olympics, but I think this is bringing it into disrepute, surely?

    Picked up 4 wombles yesterday, one was from February, one was from March, one was £1.04 cheaper in Tesco, and I got 1p back on one! Don't think I will be printing that one!!

    My DS1 is going to be a torch bearer towards the end of June, he has ordered the torch - it cost £195 - he wouldn't dream of selling it, at least not till he's around 50 and wants the money :)
