Been catching up and just wanted to say to BLUEWKD, I think it is lovely that you wanted to defend a colleague in arms on the discounts board and I happen to think that MT does a fabulous job. Had never even seen the Asda thread, but have picked up on the rtc items from this thread. Was a regular on the coupon thread but now rarely visit because the tone and BG style doesn't suit me - nothing to do with how much effort MT does or does not put in. I think I understand where you were coming from, and I think your post was well intended, but I also think in this particular instance the comments and conclusions drawn were unfounded and misplaced.

There is very little that is selfish about this thread. Of course it creeps in occasionally with a minority, that is inevitable. but the majority here is one of the most giving and selfless bunch of peeps I have had the pleasure to come across. I believe that the thread is "hidden" in Gone because it was going to be pulled off Grabbit because of too much chat - the desire for "invisibility" isn't driven by a selfish need to keep bargains to ourselves, more a desire from the majority to protect the thread from lots of reported posts ending in it being closed. I would guess that for the majority, the selfless support and chat and community spirit is equal to if not more important than any bargain posted.

There are often several ways of looking at the same words or pieces of information :)

I agree with you about the tone of the coupon thread and the BG style. As far as I know Browntoe has been the BG of the coupon thread for years, which means she was it in the old days when we chatted about anything and had the family feel, so no idea why she suddenly changed it and started moving posts etc. That was the reason why the drivel thread was opened because we didn't like having posts removed or loosing the family feel of the coupon thread. Unfortunately BT has scared a lot of people off posting on the coupon thread as their posts is either removed or moved if it doesn't have a coupon in it:(
Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

cattysmum, do hope the results today are very good news for you.

silvercar, think of the elite thread as a tree, many branches to it, and not all of us, need all the branches, but we do need the tree!

What a beautiful way to summarise this thread! This HAS to be on the opening post of the next thread! :D Any takers? (holds hand up in air....I've yet to open a thread :o)

I'll tell you something though...I need the tree, the branches and the roots 'n' all. :rotfl:

High five for this amazing thread!

Well said - as a relative newcomer to the forum I looked in lots of threads but now generally stick to this one I do look in the coupon thread and thank new coupons posted but I don't comment as chat is not allowed - there is a drivel thread but when I looked it seemed as though the chat was in code so only those in the know knew what was meant - in here it is all in the open and freely shared

Well, I've posted on the Tesco/Facebook page...wonder if they'll question my name of 'Karlie Martin Lewis' along with a profile picture of a trout.
