In our garden, we have great tits nesting in a bird box, all been good, however this morning one of the babies has fledged, and landed on the lawn, but then it couldnt seem to fly any further. It has ended up down the side of the shed, and is sitting there squawking, the parents are flying around shouting, but not going to it.

the parents are just trying to encourage it to fly, which it will eventually. It's probably just a bit weak and fledged a bit too early but, as long as you don't have cats in the vicinity, it will hopefully eventually fly away with the encouragement and support of the parents.

They don't go back to the box once they have fledged and will still be fed by the parents for a while after fledging so try not to worry. It's really better not to get involved because that might cause the parents to abandon it :(

    Morning everyone

    Am trying to keep up!

Found the nescafe 37 and the refils in one of my locals, no SELs which is usually a great sign - scanned at full price!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

ETA - Does anyone know if batteries compare for JTD or do they not count as groceries?

Help needed - and I am hoping that the amazing Elite will have someone who knows....

Once they have fledged, are they supposed to be self sufficient? Do they fly back to the box? Do the parents still feed them or just leave them to get on with it? I am worried it has fledged too soon poor thing :(

I have some lovely photos of it poking its head out of the box earlier in the week, I will try to follow the photo guide & post them later

poor wee thing, could you not put it back in box?
hope there is no cats around

Morning everyone, lovely day out here. Am thinking of heading out to the council's public outdoor pool later in the day, if it gets a bit warmer. Do I dare to face the hordes of screeching little kids whose parents will have the same idea as me? :o

The pool is situated not far from a T's, though. So may pop in to use a few price flop coupons. Didn't pay much attention to the fruit ones, but with this weather I'm actually craving some. Whjat's the best way to use them?

Hadto go to London yesterday with DD1 to look at accomodation for her 1styear at uni (if she gets the grades). Hopefully she'll make a decision today asthe deadline is this week. The good news was that somewhere she'd discounted afterlooking at google is much better when you get there. Bad news was that me andDD2 missed qualifying for the F1. Today is being planned around the race. I lovehow this thread has chats about everything

'll see you later karlie88, neosi and all of you other F1 fans. Let's hope this race is as good as the last one.

neosi please add me and DD2 to list of hopefulls to Silverstone if you are able to magic entry. DD2 is still hoping I'll buy some ticktets.

One of her friend is going on a charity trip that she needs to raise about £1000 for, for some unknown reason Silverstone are going to employ her for the 3 dayso f the GP and pay her £500 for the charity trip,it's something organised through the school. DD2 iv a little envious as her friend doesn't even have towork when the race is on but can watch it. The friend isn't into racing at all so probably won't watch it. DD2 has offered todo the 3 days work for her so she can watch the race, her friend can keep the money DD2 just wants to be there. She's love you if you could make it happen neosi, I'd be more than a little impressed.

Toni – hope you had anamazing day and I’m really looking forward to seeing some photos.Congratulations to you both. Hope you had a wonderful day too Leenie.I saw your dress in a shop window in Bristol a few weeks back, it looked evenbetter than it did on the photo.

You're right, you mustn't touch it, and if you put it back in box then your scent may well put the parents off feeding the other ones too.

The parents may have ejected the weekest of the chicks if they are struggling to feed them all, unfortunately that is the way nature works. If it is being totally ignored by them then that is probably what happened.

On a lighter note - good morning everyone, yet another warm sunny day here. I'm amazed there is no Toni or Leenie on here yet, you'd think at least Toni would have nothing better to do today :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Fudge-Cake, thank you for your thoughts, always means so much to be included in your lists! OH is continuing to do well, finding it a bit hot wearing even a thin cast in this weather, reluctant to put it on today (it is removable!) but if anything hurts that ankle then it is back to hospital :( Glad to hear you feeling better now, and that lunch sounded really nice!

    Morning another gorg day!

    Jitterbug - batteries don't compare:(
  • Morning all

The sun is shining yet again  Lovin' this weather :D

Nothing much planned for today, thinking about going to the beach, not too sure yet if DD is up for it. She still seems to have some kind of bug and I'm thinking being out in the heat probably isn't helping. We'll see how it goes ;)

Will have to go to T's though to use a couple more price flops, off to see what's the best ice cream to buy seeing as there's some room in the freezer now :D

Have a great day in the sun  :D
