Hi everybody I hope you are well. I hope you all enjoyed the sunshine today. It's going to be a fab week. I wish I would have stocked up in ice lollies now. That will teach me for not getting any price flop mags. I will learn for next time. I hope you all enjoy your evening.Mortgage debt 45,000. Thank you all for your help so far in helping me save to buy the house. I could not have done this without all your help.0

Sorry forget to mention - all this talk about Goodwood - 1 had free tickets last year and enjoyed it and best of all Tescos have a small shop on site selling mainly food and drink, but if they do check this site maybe they might change their mind with so many Elite 11ers possibly turning up. x0

QPR10, I don't think you should be accusing individual people unless you actually know who is responsible.
edit: thankyou for deleting your post.0 -
Fresh from the success of renwing the house and buildings insurance I had another look at the family finances.
I've got no JTD vouchers to use up so no excuses to do a £40 T shop, used up all of my extra nectar points vouchers so again no excuse to go to Sainsburys. I've checked my Topcash and Quidco, loads of odds and sods tracking but nothing going to paidI sold a book on Greenmetropolis last week but I've got another day to go before I can do a withdrawl. I sold 2 things on ebay on Sunday but neither have been paid for yet.
All minor annoyances.
I then had a look at OHs shares. he inherited a few shares from a parent when they died about 20 years ago and he has held onto them mostly. We have had a few very desperate times over the years when the kids were at home and some were sold but mostly they are intact.
We have alwyas regarded them as our retirement back up plan.
Apart from filling in the ss tax form to pay the extra bit of tax I've never taken much interest in them.
So for the 1st time ever I've done a chart to work out their value - really dont know what I am doing. I know share prices are at there lowest now but even so. I know the dividents are only about £100 a year now but I never really connected this to the price of the shares.
If I have done this correctly the final total is really pitifull. If OH got ill and had to take early retirement they would hardly fill the gap between out outgoings and the incoming works pension for more than a year or 2.
I think we have always assumed that the shares as the final fall back position would keep us afloat and even comfortably in the style that we would like to become accustomed to in our decrepitude but I think we have been deluding ourselves.
So its back to plan A, saving as much as possible and keeping outgoings as low as possible just incase OH does retire early. My f-i-l was only 10 year solder than my OH when he died and it prays on your mind, how long more can you keep working and how long more will your health last.
And I dont think I am going to tell OH about the share price chart - no point in depressing him
How did you work their value out? I assume number of shares times current FT share price? But double check your number of shares - some shares have bonus shares etc issued so if you have taken share number from original certificate it may not be correct0
