apparently that was a hoax bid, the girl who was selling it was raising money for a charity she had founded with her family after her brother took his own life, to help teenagers with mental health problems. was listening to her on radio 5live on way home from work, apparently working their way through lower bids to see if anyone wants, shame as for a good cause:(:A

Didn't realise, hope they manage to raise some funds still, its a great cause that could do with support.

am i the only thicko (don't all say yes at once:rotfl:) who thought the olympic torch was the same torch handed from person to person:o:o:o, howcome every Tom, !!!!!! or Harry has got one to sell?

I thought it was just the one torch until I saw them selling them! It kind of makes it a bit less special for me knowing that its almost mass produced. Not sure I can be bothered going to see it now :(

Glad it's sorted itself out :A

As a sometime imsomniac, can I please suggest to all that it's no bad thing to know your way around your house in the dark. My house is a somewhat extreme example, with lots of odd steps that can trip you up, but if there's a power cut, or, God forbid, a fire, it's a very good thing if you know your way around by instinct and touch. Just a thought. x
    Hope is not a strategy.

We had a power surge in the middle of the night once. The radio alarm clock suddenly came on, I turned it off (not snoozed) it went off again. I switched it off, by this time I was getting a bit freaked, it came on a third time and I unplugged at the socket. Got back in bed and the tv came on. I switched that off at the socket got into bed and hid under the covers.

No idea what happened, a friend who's DH worked for an electric company suggested it was a power surge. All I know it was a bit spooky.:eek::eek:

Supersavvy, I think we had a power surge about three weeks ago when our courtyard flooded. Loads of light bulbs pinged and our cooker circuit went altogether. When the electricians came out, it had fused at the board.
    Hope is not a strategy.

thanks for the advice, my house is quite simple, [STRIKE]T stashes[/STRIKE] clutter safely locked in spare room/garage however it's more of a case of i'm a total baby in the dark :o

you'll not have heard the story of my DH coming to bed with his phone on for a bit of light, came and hovered it over me to see if i was asleep, i thought he was a ghost and completely lost it -screamed the place down, kids came running, DH thought i was screaming at him to get away because we had just had an argument before i came up so was just stood frozen not knowing what to do about my hysteria:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Well that is the edited version of what happened
What/whom I really thought he was is even more freaky!!!!
